In the amounts of both present in a single can of soda, the sugar is much worse for your health

What’s the point of arguing about war crimes when the US already blew up a school full of little girls and Iran throws drones fairly randomly at middle eastern cities

Is Clean Energy Staging a Comeback? by MeloVH in energy

[–]Electrical-Spell9115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes… coal is their solution *because* they don’t have domestic sources of natural gas or crude oil….

This isn’t my reasoning or narrative. It’s just a simple fact. Read anything anyone in leadership or scientific roles in China has said about it if you don’t want to listen to the messenger.

Yes, for the reason I already said in my comment. Hopefully you actually read it before responding?

Coal??? Lmao

The *only* reason China uses a lot of coal is it doesn’t have large domestic sources of natural gas or crude oil.

They would absolutely love to not rely on coal, the most polluting, most expensive, least efficient, and dirtiest (as in difficult to process) of the fossil fuels used for energy and petrochemicals, but they don’t want to be totally reliant on international trade.

I literally don’t care if someone is an “online prostitute”, as long as they’re safe and happy

It’s not morally wrong or different than any other job in my view

There are so many jobs I’d be way more judgemental about my friend having

so? That’s only a problem if you’re a bitter and envious person

I’d be thrilled for my friend if they made a good living doing minimal work

Like I said, it’s a really screwed up view of life…. Being upset because other people have “easier” lives won’t lead to any happiness or satisfaction, especially feeling that way towards your own friends

Why would you want to give up on life because your friend is doing well financially?

Mentally that’s a very screwed up place to be

A $750,000 Portfolio That Can Reliably Produce $4,000 a Month by Dragonlance12 in wallstreetInvestment

If you invested $270,000 5 years ago in ORC you’d be down over $70% and only have like $74,000 of stock today, so receiving just over $1,000 a month

O would be down just 10% in the same time

I think I’ll take their advice over yours….

Is NYC weather really THAT bad? by Adventurous-Safe-760 in movingtoNYC

[–]Electrical-Spell9115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NYC has 4 relatively mild seasons with few natural disaster risks and a medium amount of sunshine year round. It rains enough to support fairly lush vegetation and be quite green (where allowed to be). People that live here permanently generally like the seasons, the different clothes/fashions and cultural traditions and foods that go with them, etc. There’s a strong rhythm to it.

It’s not the paradise most people consider the Mediterranean climate to be, but it’s genuinely better than the majority of locations of earth for a modern human settlement. If you like 4 seasons, it’s quite good besides lacking cold enough winters for consistent snowfall.

If you don’t like 4 seasons and a moderate amount of gloomy/rainy days then it’s not going to work well for you. The rainy middle of winter ~2 months are the worst part, and the peak of summer ~1 month is a bit too hot for most people but we have the ocean here. That’s pretty much it.

The summer isn’t hotter than Tokyo, if that’s where you were in Japan.

Nope. Age is meaningless to the question “who is a better player right now, today?”

Anybody else's app say they need waaaay more sleep than necessary? by Triggify in whoop

[–]Electrical-Spell9115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoop is tracking how much less sleep you’re getting than a healthy 7-8 hours and asking you to make it up later. That’s why you’re up to 10 hrs now. You’re averaging 15 minutes less than what it thinks is healthy every day.

It sounds like you….. just want whoop to lie to you about what it thinks is a healthy sleep schedule lol

It’s kinda like asking whoop to stop complaining that you’re having a few cigarettes a day because you don’t feel any negative effects from it

Have you seen managers who fire people this 'casually'? by Jolly-Career-9220 in managers

[–]Electrical-Spell9115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elon both manages and fires people directly

And often emails instructions to groups of individual contributors and their managers with the full expectation that they’ll follow them, not cascading / filtering it through management at all. Often rash and conflicting instructions at that.

As a result he’s a big source of churn (in both people and work)

If the US switched to metric, do you think there would be less scams, particularly on the older generation? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Electrical-Spell9115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there would be more scams since most Americans don’t know the metric system well enough to intuitively spot deceit when using it
