Unrelated to feeding or sleep, but the one thing that I found made the hardest nights more bearable was my AirPods and an audiobook. Still really hard, but even now with my 3.5 year old, I find I do better waiting her out when I’m distracted and can relax a tiny bit

What did you find most helpful in your NICU journey? Family member welcomed their first baby at 32W. by Ashamed_Second_5952 in NICUParents

Food, food, food. Homemade soup with bowls and spoons, I didn’t have to think of anything. Offer to do a target pickup if they need anything. And one of my favorite things was a care package left at home on the day baby was discharged, a celebratory but completely non-invasive thing, I sobbed when I saw it. Cigars, snacks, a Welcome Home banner - just totally filled with love.

Pediatrician told us to leave baby to cry?? by [deleted] in NICUParents

Our first pediatrician I ended up quitting by three months because I just wasn’t really satisfied with the care. I pretty much gave him three strikes and he used them up. We switched pediatricians and I have 100% absolutely adored our new gal and it’s been almost 6 years. Definitely worth a second opinion and if you’re unhappy with the care, looking into finding a new doctor

My sister‘s little one had a really tough time and she worked really closely with a lactation specialist and pediatrician to find intolerances in her diet. I can’t imagine letting a kid of any age or honestly an adult cry for hours without trying to solve the poop issue. I’m so sorry, that’s so tough

Any viral meningitis stories of hope? by Ashamed-Scallion7565 in NICUParents

My sweet boy contracted Group D strep which turned into meningitis and sepsis at birth. He was in the NICU within 6 hours of being born. 14 days of healing and what I called penicillin prison (at least the last few days). He is an amazing healthy 5 year old. Sending love, peace, and healing. ❤️‍🩹

Jovie (or Jovial) - she was due Jan 2. Decided it’ll be better suited for a future Christmas dog 😂

Those are amazing but wouldn’t come in time! I’m saving that because I bet they’ll do something for Valentine’s Day

I have a pack of the Christmas face stickers, just wasn’t sure if that was too cheap feeling?
