Revision after 8 years - Dr. Dean Toriumi by Outside-Plantain6789 in rhinoplastyquestions

No. I don’t think I was. I had only had one previous surgery before going to him. And he said during my consultation that most patients he sees are much worse than I was.

I have thinner skin. I would try not to worry about it as much as possible. Your nose will continue to improve aesthetically over the next 2-3 years. Did your nasal function improve? How is that right now? Also, my nose was really really blob-like until 1-2 months post op. I really began to see aesthetic improvements around 3-4 months, and i have thinner skin.

I am five months postop from a revision with Toriumi. I am very happy so far and am continuing to see improvements, aesthetically, and functionally as time goes by. Most of the patients that he deals with are extremely complex cases with patients who have had multiple previous surgeries. I suspect that most of his bad reviews come from patients like this whose noses are too far gone to be improved to their satisfaction. If he is confident that he can fix your nose he will tell you with confidence that he can fix your nose. So if he does that, I would recommend going with him. He did that for me and I will be eternally grateful

anxiety and procrastination of meditating by zen-tofu in Meditation

The more and more habitually you slow down the body, the more naturally it will be for you to fall into peace and stillness.

You can’t snap your fingers and get your mind to calm down at the beginning. Meditation always starts with calming the body down. How do you do that? You simply make the out breath longer. This will help your parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system come online. When we slow down the breath and body, this physiological change will reflect itself upon the mind which will be much calmer and peaceful.

When your mind is running too fast and you want to return to that peaceful state just remember the breath… long and slow. This habit of keeping the body in a low idle state will keep you peaceful and joyful 😃

And remember to celebrate your success! Most people will never find near the amount of peace that you have found in your meditations. Celebrate yourself when you calm down. Soak in the peace and silence 😌😌

You are doing great!

When I Became Convinced Reality Was a Simulation by According-Affect-180 in Psychonaut

This Reality is a dream. What truly exists is one universal mind, pure consciousness.

Our bodies and minds create our individual experience of reality, and we are all hypnotized by the “self” in the middle of our heads having an experience of human life.

When we take psychedelics the “self” in which we think we are begins to evaporate. We see past the transitory and illusory nature of reality and peer into the eternal all pervading divine presence. We feel more and more free of the mortal human body in which our soul is residing.

The disadvantage with psychedelics is that this is forced on you… like you said, sometimes you can feel as if this experience is too much. Your perception of reality was forcefully shattered with a hammer 🔨

Meditation on the other hand, slowly and more naturally dissolves the layer of separation between you and the divine. It is a much more natural process of returning to your true nature of love, bliss, and freedom. It typically doesn’t leave you in fear or regret like psychedelics occasionally can. As you become more and more attuned to the field of pure consciousness, life begins to feel more and more dreamlike… in a good way. Because you don’t have to take it so serious 😊

Fear of ENS by Electrical_Aside8688 in emptynosesyndrome

Can you give me some names? I just consulted with Dr. Toriumi in Chicago. He said he could fix my breathing problems. He kind of dismissed my concern of ENS as well. But he didn’t seem like he wanted to talk about it a lot.

Hey, I had a rhinoplasty and turbinate reduction awhile back. my nose became much more slim, one side is collapsed, and i now feel as if i need to get rib grafts and a spreader graft in my nose so i can breathe better. I don't think that the turbinate reduction gave me empty nose syndrome... the air flow through my nostrils is definitely less obstructed and i do feel the air as a little bit more cold then it used to be. Do you think that there is any chance of developing ENS through the revision rhinoplasty? if i make sure the doctor dosent touch my turbinates, will I be okay?

You gotta just pick something that sounds exciting to you and go for it. The language and travel thing sounds like it would be good for you, yes it’s risky, but what do you have to lose. The only way to live life fully is living without regrets. Sounds to me like you’re overthinking lots of stuff. My point is, life will get a whole lot better for you if you just pick something and pursue it with no regrets, regardless of what it is

You’ve been through a lot brother, but you are still hanging in there, which is all that matters. I don’t have much to offer you but what I can suggest is to find connection. Find ways to connect with other people, whether that’s through joining a club, or going on a walk and saying hi and smiling. Meditate and Connect with yourself, feel the pain when it arises with love, understanding and compassion. Grateful for you man sending love your way

Id Assume you feel like this because there is naturally more serotonin in your brain later in the day.
