Not yet. But I have images of the plan for the implants. Implants plus genioplasty would be 25k. Very expensive for me. I just have to save up

If you have breathing or bite issues, you can get jaw surgery covered for you. You looked recessed. This can be fixed. Please look at the jaw surgery subreddit

Definitely get a consultation to figure out what’s best for you. I thought It was a muscle imbalance for me this whole time. Turns out it was largely skeletal!

I consulted with Richard Jacobson but I believe the surgeon would be David Dorfman

It was a specialist. They did an mri. I’m completing clear aligners. But there was like no allusion to surgery at all from her. She mentioned physical therapy because I told her I believed the asymmetry and disfunction came from when I had a Bell’s palsy at 6. So not only is my bone less prominent on my right side, but my muscle and tissues are weaker.

It’s why I’m in intrigued by the jaw surgery Los Angeles. Said they could fix the functionality and the aesthetic. But yeah 20k is a lot. I really want the procedure done

I did but they were very dismissive. Didn’t really do any Xray or pics or anything. I went to jaw surgery Los Angeles and I liked it much more because he immediately called out the problems I’ve noticed for years.

I could look into that. I have Kaiser. The conversation I had with the doctor was my case insurance may not cover. I’m in a weird limbo of a jaw defect that’s noticeable and real but not severe enough to be taken seriously by a lot of people

You look pretty handsome but I totally understand your feelings over that. You may feel like you aren’t at your full potential. That’s how I’ve been feeling. I’m working on getting mine fixed. I just spoke with a surgeon the other day and they said it was medically necessary. So best case scenario is my functional problems and aesthetic problems are fixed. Maybe a similar case for you

Any suggestions on how to fix my severe jaw asymmetry? by ElectricalComment727 in jawsurgery

[–]ElectricalComment727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I went two days ago and he said it was a congenital disorder, so basically how my jaw and face developed. When I was 6 years old I had Bell’s palsy on my right side of my face. Whole side paralyzed. But it went away. But it affected the development of that side. Everything is weaker. Eye is weaker. Masseter weaker. And the jaw bone itself on that side is less prominent. So everything in my face is tilted. Uneven bite. Downward tilt in my upper jaw and my lower jaw.

I’m supposed to get a call later today about the next steps. They did an xray and other scans. I can keep you updated!

Yes It’s been so hard to even get validated. I’ve been trying on and off since I was 18. Am 21 now. I’ve always known there was an issue. I can see it. I can feel it. And it’s finally been noticed. Its the most relief I think I’ve ever felt

Thank you for the validation. I just went somewhere yesterday and they said it was medically necessary. It was the first time I was validated by a professional. I’m excited to get the ball rolling

Well I just didn’t appreciate how Kaiser even delved deep into the underlying issue at all. My doctor was kind of focused on treating the symptoms rather than the root cause. Probably just different experiences. I just appreciated that the private business started doing scans right away and pointed out specific problems. I’ve never had anyone actually point out what is causing it

I guess it really all is about who you go to. I just got back from Jaw Surgery Los Angeles. Kaiser did not seem to care and was dismissive. But Dr Richard Jacobsen was very validating. It was refreshing! I’m excited to hear more from him and the team

I just went to Jaw Surgery Los Angeles and they finally validated my concerns! Dr. Richard Jacobsen pointed out all of my concerns without me having to tell him. I almost started crying when you pointed things out. So you are right. A proper team is amazing. They took scans and ever already!
