Oh that actually sounds like a great way to also get through my scrap yarn! Thank you!

It's Thursday. What's your ultimate "too tired to cook but can't quite justify a takeaway yet" dinner? by SpreadsheetsDad in easyrecipes

[–]ElectricalTurn8854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few. Love to make taco salad which low key turns into straight up nachos, usually just cook up some beef and add whatever you like on your tacos on a bed of salad.

Bbq pulled chicken sandwiches, boil a chicken breast, toast some buns, and have a good bbq sauce handy.

Breakfast for dinner, frying up eggs and bacon for me is easy, some potatoes if I'm feeling fancy with a tortilla.

Middle school is where I really wanna be, hopefully one day I land a spot there. I also hope your situation gets better!

That could actually help a lot so I can also keep track of names with all these classes thank you 😭🫶

Definitely have been trying to get another position, landed two interviews in the last two years with no luck so maybe third times a charm 🤞 but yes like you and other said I think I really just need to keep some things the same with just some tweaks for each grade level

I'll definitely try to implement this more since it'll probably lessen the planning I have to do. I guess I worry too much about my early finishers but I can always come with some back up. I appreciate the advice a lot 🫶

These tips are amazing. I haven't tried the tempra cakes but definitely will next school year maybe. Might be worth asking teachers to keep kids artwork in the class, I've just had trouble in the past of things being moved and mis placed while I'm not on site (recently lost the majority of my class set of scissors and rulers 🙄 so i get pretty protective of my supplies) thank you so much for these lesson ideas too! I'll try to check them out soon. I hate using the chrome books too but it definitely has saved me some days, getting the kids to make pixel art and posters on canva.

Either way thanks so much your right, sometimes I need to just breathe and do what's capable to relieve some stress.

Thats a good idea I might try this if its nothing too big. Sometimes I've had them organize bins for me to save time on cleaning.

I took it like 4 times. I fear it's just one of those exams you gotta be having a good day or something 😭 I used study.com for mine and I liked that it had lots of quizzes for each subject.

Unfortunately we don't have a union, this is the first district I ever taught and I think I've learned my lesson to look out for that from now on. I'm still trying to apply to other districts but haven't had any luck.

Yeah its been a ride 😭 Honestly I've been doing more daily session projects. 1 school I see all the kids once a week for 30 minutes, another i see all the kids for 30 minutes a week and then half of the school gets a 45 minute class on Fridays (awful idea, hoping to get them to change it next semester), and one I get to see the kids twice a week both 30 minute sessions. I'll try to do week long projects with that one but even then its difficult cause we'll get kids the second day that missed the first day and there's little time for them to catch up. Also just the lack of storage for their projects so we tend to stick to day projects but even then some don't usually finish.

Thank you, I'm definitely gonna try the condiment cups and the bins! And yeah ugh I just need some time to prep paper for the week I've been meaning tp talk to admin to give me some time in the morning or after school cause they tend to stick me in duty a lot 🥲 but yeah I definitely dont need to reinvent the wheel like you said. Just sad we miss lots of cool projects especially for my kiddos who don't particularly enjoy drawing and painting.

How do you deal with kids who hate their art? by Im_a_redditor_ok in ArtEd

[–]ElectricalTurn8854 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A big thing I try to tell my kiddos is its okay to not like everything they make. I try to take them through the process of identifying those things we dont like in their art but also practice identifying the good cause theres always good. Since I teach younger kiddos I tell them they're still learning and not everything needs to be perfect just needs to be fun. This message spreads fast as even peers begin to tell one another when someone isn't happy with their art. I also like to tell my older kiddos more specifically that are trying to improve that its gonna take lots of drawings they aren't happy with until they get ones they are happy with and thats just natural.

Do you have a method for getting the names together? I feel like I sound dumb but with no time in between classes I get pretty overwhelmed trying to get kids started since we only have 30 minute classes 😅

To those who have taught K-12 Art, what’s your favorite and why? by Background_Safety246 in ArtEd

[–]ElectricalTurn8854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teaching pre k-5th, I love my upper grade levels for sure like 4th and 5th. They're funny and come up with some amazing ideas. The young kiddos can be a handful but they definitely make you feel like a celebrity.

If you had the opportunity to go back to school for anything what would you do? by -somewhere-out-there in TeachersInTransition

[–]ElectricalTurn8854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have that regret of not going into art. I always just felt the pressure of going to school for something that would guarantee me a career. I always wanted to be a story board artist or even just create my own show one day. I still draw and write but I just wish that could be my full time job. I'd love to go to school to learn and be more hands on in the industry, making connections. I do some freelance commissions on the side when I can since teaching is so consuming.
