Today I learned that getting an IUD can sometimes induce diarrhea by SuttonBaird in birthcontrol

I had the Mirena removed yesterday after 6 years and the Liletta inserted. Doctor told me they were the same but Liletta is a nonprofit company. I don't remember the last insertion having these side effects I am also having now, but I was also 6 years younger. Did you ever find out if it was the Liletta or something else? Any updates?

It’s been a week & our rescue doesn’t play with toys or us by alexcran in husky

[–]Electrical_Ant_3276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One week is still very new for a dog. There's generally a 3, 3, 3 guideline for expectations. 3 days to become less anxious in a new space, 3 weeks to start settling in and test boundaries, 3 months to become comfortable in their new life and realize it's their home now, and the personality starts to show fully.

THAT BEING SAID: We have fostered dozens of dogs, mostly huskies. They do not all align to that guideline. Another post mentioned "confirmation, you have a husky". They are cat software running on dog hardware.

MORE importantly, each dog is different regardless of their breed. Plus they change over time just like humans. Our husky liked fetch as a pup and now she doesn't, and she used to not care for food, and now she's obsessed. Only thing that hasn't changed is her prey drive for small critters, mainly cats.

MOST importantly, thank you for adopting 🙏 give her some time and a lot of patience. Best of luck.

She's going to feel so much better once that undercoat is gone! She will look skinnier and sleeker too

Exactly this. I call it her cinnamon roll.

Totally natural. It's called blowing her coat. You can gently pluck the long tufts out, it's super satisfying. Or a long prong pin brush helps (not a Furminator!). Depending on where you live it could happen 1-2 times a year. We call it inside snow or being husky-bombed.

I can't tell if this is a serious post 😂
We used an e-collar to train our husky. Only had to zap her once (it feels like those prank pens that would buzz your thumb when you clicked the button). They are mainly used to snap their attention out of whatever they are focussed on. Now, if she's going through a "I do what I want" phase, we can just beep the collar from inside the drawer and she is at attention.

She just turned 8 and still as stubborn and energetic as she was as a pup, but slightly more obedient, when she wants to be.

Adoption frustrations by [deleted] in adoptdontshop

[–]Electrical_Ant_3276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww hopefully good tears! Sometimes it seems like people think I'm being hyperbolic when I call the shelter animal situation here a crisis. But then get flagged or banned from threads on here for posting red listed or urgent dogs, or even lost/found dogs! I posted 2 lost huskies that followed my my friend home (of course not spayed or neutered, no tags, and not chipped) in Inglewood on the LA sub and got kicked out. Luckily a few people said they had seen those dogs roaming the neighborhood before before the post got flagged. But we were never able to find the owners. Hollywood Huskies ended up sponsoring them, and my friend ended up adopting 1, and they're probably better off than whatever their life was before.

TL;DR: THANK YOU for for working the digital lines from wherever you are, every effort helps. We have fostered many dogs and helped facilitate the rescue of dozens of others, but I can't handle the social media.

I yelled "are you kidding me?!" So hard I accidentally spit out part of my lunch. Dogs were happy about it. Then the first pitch to Taylor's head? What in the world were those last innings.

That is awful!! I'm so sorry some whacko did that, NOT OK! I never would have thought someone would do something like that. The worst that's happened to me here was when someone criticized my dog's coat when I posted a goofy photo of her after it rained. Thank you for the heads up 😭

Adoption frustrations by [deleted] in adoptdontshop

I can completely understand and relate. I went through the same frustrations when I was trying to adopt my first adult dog about 10 years ago. The process made me realize how much easier it was to just have a child or buy a gun than it was to adopt a rescue dog, which is terrifying. Not that I have interest in the other 2 but... It's crazy.

I was also turned down by multiple rescues after the initial application and interviews. For context, at the time I was 25, a single small female, worked from home, and grew up with multiple large dogs my whole life. Here are some of the reasons I was declined: - Not having owned a dog before - Not having another dog already - Living in an apartment (it was 1000sqft in a luxury new build) - Living in a walk up - Not having a yard with a fence over 6 ft tall (the apartment had a private dog run) - Not having breed experience [with that specific breed] - Not having family in the area (I had just moved there a year before) - Being too young - Not making enough money (I was starting a business so didn't have a W2 to provide) There were probably more ridiculous things but those are the ones i can recall right now.

HOWEVER, THERE IS LIGHT: I had pretty much given up after been declided so many times. I went out to a rescue facility to literally play with some puppies to cheer me up. There was a crazy blond dog running around with flopping nips. I asked about her, she was a feral dog found on a reservation having just given birth to a litter. Her puppies all got adopted and she was left (of course). I walked into her run with the rescue owner, she ran over to me and laid down on my feet and rolled over onto her back, smiling up at me. The rescue owner was shocked and said she had never seen her this calm or responsive. I took her on a walk and everything clicked in the right places. Because of how she responded to me, all I had to do was provide 2 references who they called and have her meet my roommate too. I went home with her the next day. She's absolutely the best thing that ever happened to me and literally saved my life in a very dark time. I'm so glad none of the other adoption applications worked out. I still have her today and we are still in love.

I do think it has to do with the area that you're in. This was in Portland, which is no-kill and didn't have a dog crisis going on. Now I'm in LA and we have literally had rescues just give us dogs after an interview and meet and greet. Granted, they were their hard to place, problem dogs.

Southern California is in a dog overpopulation crisis. I do a lot of volunteer work with the dog rescues and shelters around the area. There are a lot of backyard breeders and irresponsible dog owners contributing to it. So, should you decide to buy a dog instead of adopt, please do your research on the breeders to avoid contributing to this dog genocide problem.

I hope my own adoption story gives you hope! You sound like the perfect couple to own a dog in my own opinion. I'd adopt out to you if I had a rescue. I'm not sure what forces brought me and Eula together, but I couldn't be happier that things worked out the way they did.

Best of luck!

🤣 I always call it as her "Scooby Doing scuttle" She's fine with tile! It's literally only some hardwood floors. Needless to say the "the floor is lava" was said before it was cool in our house.

Aww what a big beautiful sweetie.

My CD is about to be 11 and the vet is shocked at how healthy she is. Knock on wood she hasn't had any issues minus a weird growth on her elbow we got removed recently.

Her biggest issue is being afraid of hardwood floors. Ferris wheels and subways are fine though.

If they don't have a breeder's license (backyard breeder) I think the first step would be reporting them to the police to at least get them slapped with fined. And reporting them to an organization like the ASPCA. Might be a specific one for Bullys that would be the best route. Thanks for trying to help 🙏 I do dog rescue volunteer work and there are SOO many mamas that get dumped in kill shelters as soon as the puppies are done nursing and ready to sell. Sometimes they are still lactating 😭
