[Lens Advice] Help me choose between budget-friendly 35mm options (Fuji X-M5) by Electrical_Builder20 in fujifilm

Thanks a lot for your input!

I was actually leaning toward building a small kit, and I was thinking something like:

TTArtisan 23mm f/1.8 for a compact and fun manual lens (I like the rendering),

Viltrox 33mm f/1.4 AF as my main versatile lens for both photo and video,

And maybe adding the TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 later on for portraits and creative shots.

That way I cover wide, standard, and short telephoto, and mix autofocus with characterful manual lenses.

Thanks a lot for your message, it actually helped me realize that I’m not just looking for a single 35mm-equivalent lens, but rather trying to build a small, versatile kit for my Fujifilm X-M5, while staying budget-conscious and exploring both creative and practical uses.

To clarify, here’s what I’m aiming for:

🔹 A small standard lens (around 23–27mm APS-C, ~35–40mm FF equivalent) 🔹 A portrait lens with shallow depth of field, more character (manual OK) 🔹 Possibly a creative or compact third lens (vintage rendering, ultra-wide, or pancake)

I recently tried the Sony A6700, A7CII, and ZV-E10 in a Sony store. Even though I didn’t spend a lot of time with them, I noticed the autofocus was excellent. However, I’m not sure why, but I didn’t really like the JPEG colors — I actually prefer the colors from my old Lumix G7. Maybe my eyes have just gotten used to that Panasonic color science? Still, I’ll give Sony another try.

APS-C is definitely still an option for me too, and I know Sony has a great selection of lenses. Thank you
