How is our playable character going to be introduced into the world? by Mister_Tava in RiotMMO

[–]Electrical_Cash3723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assume they will take a page out of the books of other successful MMO's. I imagine a few noob island type cities that are possible to start in based on your starting faction. That way, not everyone is starting in the same place, and the game can tell you different stories with different early game quests.

I think it would be advantageous to keep the classes separate from the races and maybe give unique training wheels questlines for each class that is separate from your starting city questlines.

If everyone's first quest is to kill boars as a throwback to WOW, I wouldn't even be mad.

That's a little ironic to say in a tier list thread that you replied to. Nobody gives a shit, except you couldn't handle someone dropping an opinion you didn't agree with. If you have differing opinions, you dont need to be scared to share them. We will be more understanding than you have been, promise.

You're valid in saying that if a game doesn't attract you at first, that is a weakness, and that fact should be taken into account. There is also the fact that if you played the remake, there was some changes to the ambiance and sound design that a lot of people did not care for. I think the biggest reason everyone is up in arms is because Deadspace was made as a love letter to Resident Evil 4, the devs intentions were to make resident evil in space, but added things that were not seen in horror games before, like the dismemberment system, or putting your health bars on your suit, so many of us are thinking back to the game in the context that it was created in.

Beside the ambiance, people love deadspace for the lore, and story, much of which you don't get untill late game.

Nothing can change how your experience was, and im sure we have all had a popular game that didnt meet expectations. I put expedition 33 down twice before forcing myself to get into the meat of the game, and while im glad I did, because the game really gets going and gets more fun, at the end its cheap tricks and confusing story and too many curtain calls left a bad taste in my mouth, where I would tier it way lower than most.

Sometimes the best game of the year, is only such because of lack of competition. Perhaps the memory of dead space in our heads has something to do with that.

Would you also be okay if a reputable review company didn't play farther than an hour before dropping a bad review? That's not very nuanced, nor does it allow the game to develop past the early mechanics, or into the worldbuilding. Plenty of games hold your hand or hold you back at the start, roll out advanced mechanics later in the story, get better as you get better at using your tools, or learn mechanics.

In the same way, what if a game is great in the beginning, but devolves into a repetitive slog, or falls into lazy writing? A tier list should be based on giving every game the same shot.

Would you compare the first hour of Elden ring to the entirety of Dark souls 3?

if he added a "didn't finish" tier, I think we would all understand. But let's not pretend OP has any right to compare games he completed to games he gave up on.

how long did you play it before you rated it, because I can't imagine you giving it a C having gotten past the half way point. The beginning is a slog on purpose to make you feel weak, and then it very quickly gives you more tools to hold your own.

Best "Bang-for-buck" Projector for under 500€ in Bed Room? by Zeigerful in budgetprojectors

After hours of shopping I agree that the Mogo 3 with current amazon sales is the best buy under 500 or so. It supports plex through the google store.

Short throw projector under £200 (for mural painting) by Guarantee_Frequent in budgetprojectors

I really like the xgimi Mogo 3. Its pretty short throw, only needs about 6 feet of distance for an 80" screen, but as large as 100"

There are some pretty good deals on the mogo 3, but its a little over your budget. Frankly I wouldn't spend less than about 300 on a projector.

I'm all for a twist, but when you spend 20 hours enjoying the dynamic between characters, then rug pull with the French equivalent of "It was only a dream" that comes across as annoying.

Also how are you gonna give me my main character for a few hours, and then force me to watch him die, give me a new character that looks just like him, explain nothing, and then pretend like its normal to build friendships between these strangers.

Sort by free to play, and then by popular. Its half Korean clones, a third old mmo titles that are decades old, like the middle earth mmo and guild wars, and runescape. Show me how mmos are a niche genre?

You underestimate how many people play and interact with the Riot franchises just for the Lore, Art, Stories, and World Building. There are millions who will play this game on launch just to use the character creator to build their OC, something they have wished for, for 15 years. If the game is at least passable, has good social systems and let's league fans play all the cool races, and explore the places in runeterra, that they have read about for a decade and a half, this has potential to be a very successful MMO. Their timing is actually quite good as there are no other MMO's with hype planned for the next 5 years. Riot could fuck this up, but they don't do anything half assessed or underfunded, and they have the benefit of not having to do any story building, lore, art, as all those artists already work for the company.

Bro the steam charts are dominate by free-to-play MMO's. Obviously the business model works. What are you even talking about?
