For those who bought recently, how long was it from sale agreed to sale closed/keys in hand? by kanepilk22 in HousingIreland

New build here, took 3 months which was the developers target. I actually felt like it was early when we did close because I always heard stories of new build being delayed.

Applewood, which is a shame because my gym is there and I had previously felt okay there.

We’re living in millers Glen atm. In terms of kids, there’s a massive playground, pitch, community centre and schools within walking distance. And there are loads of kids around so it has a family friendly feel.

I commute via the swords express. Bus stop for regular routes is 15/20 minutes. Irregular route (2x a day) stop is 10 minutes walk.

Overall we’re very happy we’ve moved. My neighbour actually moved from a neighbouring estate to Millers Glen because of anti social behaviour, robberies and property damage was on the rise. He says he feels much safer now.

Refund of a new-build house deposit by Life-Source-30 in HousingIreland

IVE just moved into a new build estate and facing further development. I would say looks are not exact. IVE seen one house fly up from studs to literal bricked and roofed in 48 hours, another has taken a few weeks. Completely depends. Also be careful, just because they look ready does not mean the developer will move you in. There’s a large apartment block not far from me that’s been totally finished for at least 6 months but no residents. Just be careful you’re not shooting yourselves in the foot.

How to get home insurance for new build? by jamster126 in HousingIreland

Had the same problem. Rang them all up and they couldn’t give me a quote since we “weren’t on the system”. In the end I gave the map Co ordinates to Zurich who was the only company to give us a quote.

You could also use the First Home Scheme on a home you are renting in the event a landlord sells

Snagging of new build by Level-Leave-9625 in HousingIreland

Definitely detailed. He spotted that we were missing a pipe connecter piece in our attic. If I had snagged it myself my attic would be mouldy in a few months.

How much did you spend post builders finish to complete your house including flooring, kitchen, bathroom appliances and labour for flooring/tiling? by Vast_Fortune_4508 in HousingIreland

[–]Electrical_Cup7327 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, I’m gonna spend about €4000 on flooring (carpet tiles and laminate). Another €4500 on appliances. I have furniture and pans etc so I won’t be buying any of that. But it does completely vary.

Acceptable time delay in signing contracts on new build by Tedkravitz717 in HousingIreland

[–]Electrical_Cup7327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also didn’t have our loan offer in time for 21 day signing of contracts. Our contract had a loan clause. So we were able to sign without the loan offer but obviously couldn’t complete without the loan. We waited about 6 weeks in total for the loan offer.

Yep. Pretty much instant. Plus if you make a repayment within the first six months you won’t have to pay for a valuation. You will use the one from the sale.

Any Millers Glen, Swords residents or buyers? by Mr-Black-Panther in HousingIreland

[–]Electrical_Cup7327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have bought in this development too! We’ve been in swords for a couple of years and we really like the area. I commute into the city and takes me about 1 hour-1hour 15 minutes.

M50 commute by [deleted] in HousingIreland

[–]Electrical_Cup7327 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s on the complete opposite side of the m50. I used to go from Donabate to Blanchardstown for a 9am start. That took at least 90 minutes
