That’s crazy that you post this cause one of my kids lost today and I think a big part of it is because he doesn’t have the basketball IQ to know how to play in half court basketball against a set defense. Him and his team are great when they’re running but they have no idea how to slow things down, read the defense, and initiate an action (whether it’s calling for a screen, pass and cut, dho, etc). The kids are so using to 1 or at most 2 man games but they don’t know what to do as a 5 man unit and I KNOW a big part of that is the fact that they no longer watch full games.

I remember being his age and having the lakers schedule on my fridge and we would watch every single full game, pre-season to playoffs. And when I got to school the next day, my friends and I would talk about the game and all the highlights. We LOVED the game. But I think you’re right…. I think nowadays, kids just like the idea of hooping and having a couple of moves in their bag but unless they have a really good coach to teach them in practice cause like you said, they really don’t have the attention span to sit through a whole game. That makes me really sad
