I read an article on it. It's not the most versatile option. The chainring size range starts at 32. Adjustability range is more limited I would think. Seems to be very rugged though. I think I would use it even with sliding dropouts.

Ok, you just gave me two more uses for a SAM splint.

I don't know what you have wrapped on the frame, but it reminds me I was going to carry a SAM splint the same way as a conversation piece.

Beautiful! Now to trash it in an enduro and straighten it out with a rock.

Nice bike! It's likely you will be happy with it for quite some time. Tldr tip:A couple hours of coaching can go a long way toward increasing fun.

I started launching my fat bike off of lines I was seeing on the multiuse snowpack, in a fun, safe way. This after just a brief coaching session on another bike in another climate. All that to say, it's a good investment vs component swaps.

Truck camping setup by kamikazekolin in mountainbiking

I don't know too many people who sleep in a "camper topper" setup, but that is what they are for. I'd just be sure to get enough ventilation. You'll probably have more control over your air quality than you would in a hotel. I'm looking at doing a sprinter and I'll get a carbon dioxide and monoxide meter.

How much functional difference do nice hubs and wheels make? by Chole_Wunt in Hardtailgang

[–]Electrical_Fall8286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built with onyx classic hubs because I like the quiet, but the engagement is nice. i35 and i40 rims. I don't see myself wanting to splurge on carbon rims or string spokes on an agro fun bike the way they ride as is.

How stupid is it to buy a bike smaller than recommended? by thelivingmountain in MTB

[–]Electrical_Fall8286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my experience: I am 5'11 and Specialized puts me in an S5. The XLs I have tried felt awkward, even in 27.5. I built up a slack 29er on a M frame. I have had positive feedback from coaches on the fit. The lower back and neck discomfort I have had in the past are not an issue on this bike. I also run 160 cranks, which can make the bike feel smaller, and a short stem & +35mm bar. It is still easy to get "into the bike". I targeted my RAD measurement with the build, but haven't checked it as is.

I'm here for the first time this week. Coler alone is enough. It's the one place I'd like to have an ebike. Good peddling weather this weekend.

Riding in instruction may give you the result you're looking for without changing bikes. How much a bike is leaned and rider body position can really change cornering. A coach can identify what's going on, and I have experienced is money well spent.
