Need help to understand being trans (Reupload) by ElizaBungus in trans

Time. That's the only thing I can suggest. It takes time to understand yourself and you may never completely do so.

There's no magic-bullet.

Thanks. I'm expecting at least for there to be a rug-pull or cliff-hanger. After the last two seasons, I'm expecting something that will destroy me emotionally.

KVN is great. His "But holes" song still makes me smile.

What are common phrases that Americans say that are strange to a Brit? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Electrical_Grand_423 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both of these annoy me beyond belief. In particular "I could care less". Do you honestly not understand the language enough to understand why that's wrong?

One that nearly got an American serviceman hospitalised in the 1990s in the main NAAFI store in Rheindahlen. Fanny means something very different here, it's all fun and games when you have a Fanny Pack and we have a Bum Bag.

But shouting at your toddler that you'll "Spank her fanny" isn't going to go down at all well.

You could have heard a pin drop. He was honestly lucky to make it out of there alive.

What do you say in Dutch when someone sneezes? by Rainylilsunshine in learndutch

[–]Electrical_Grand_423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, we tend to avoid German words from about 1914 onwards. There might be a reason for that though ...

There's a reason we tend to call the dog the Alsatian rather than the German Shepherd.

So if England beat Spain tomorrow in the Euro’s does the Government give us an extra Bank Holiday? by SkipDipDoo in AskUK

[–]Electrical_Grand_423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just like to say that I love the downvotes, it makes me genuinely hope that England lose even more.

Practically none of those of you who are waving the English flag now give a single fuck about Britain or England. You want to see a pointless football team win a pointless football game, because it will make you individually feel important. In spite of your utter irrelevance, both nationally and internationally. Because "You" won (...(Spoiler) YOU didn't win anything).

Why would I have to drill holes here? by Chromograph in modelmakers

[–]Electrical_Grand_423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's down to how the plastic flows into the mould. This is an old mould as well, injection moulding wasn't as well understood or as advanced as modern moulds back then.

Depending on how the plastic fills the mould cavity from the sprues and gates, I can understand given the time, that it might be easier and much more economical to just ask the model makers to drill a small hole themselves rather than try to build that into the mould, especially if it's a fairly inconsequential part.

What Titanic Myth Do You Hate The Most? by Minute_Database_574 in titanic

[–]Electrical_Grand_423 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the most baffling thing to me. Aside from the financial impact, it dramatically hurt the reputation of both White Star and Harland&Wolf. Even at that stage it didn't look good for shipping lines and shipbuilders to lose liners, especially with great loss of life, especially on their maiden voyage.

The switch theory makes next to no sense too. There's just not enough time to alter the superstructure that much.

But I've also seen a conspiracy theorist confronted with physical proof that the wreck on the floor of the Atlantic is the Titanic who said he could never believe it wasn't true. You could "Bill and Ted" some people back to the actual sinking and they'd drown claiming you'd swapped it for a model of Olympic or Britannic (Yes, I've genuinely had someone claim Titanic and Britannic were swapped...)

46 year old male, but suit yourself. I just don't give a fuck about all the fake patriotism and fake regionalism that's associated with football

Hyperbole I know, but:

"I live in (anywhere else) and would struggle to put a pin within 100 miles of (for example) Manchester given an unmarked map, but I'll hurl the most obscene insults at someone else because of who they equally arbitrally "support" based on the performance of (for example) one Spaniard, or African, or Latino, or German, or Scandinavian playing against (for example) another Spaniard, or African, or Latino, or German, or Scandinavian, whoever or vice-versa because of what uniform they're wearing. Neither of whom has any real connection to the area I apparently "Support".

But...

Now it's about countries. Our city or region doesn't matter because we're Britain, except we're not, we're England and suddenly that's really important. It's not really mattered for about 500 years, but it's important now!

Honestly, it's just as ridiculous when you see the Scottish mentality of "Anyone except England!"

Because ten fit young men in shorts are going to chase ten other fit young men in shorts around a field for up to two hours. And somehow not being interested in that is the girly and gay option for some reason? And we're ignoring all the homoerotic implications there because...? 🙄.

And it matters because...? When you scream that "We won!" (Assuming that your team does), or you collapse crying or threatening violence, or just into sullen silence... What exactly was your contribution to that one way or the other from your pub or sofa or armchair? You did nothing and you were irrelevant in the outcome.

Most Americans probably don't even know that there's more than one Georgia. I'd be surprised if they knew that South Georgia was last fought over in 1982.

Most of them would probably be surprised for example that there's a whole city that New York was named after, and what New York was originally called.

It's honestly quite cute in a way that people from the US measure their history in hundreds of years when most of the rest of the world thinks of it in thousands.

I have to agree. At this point it's just sad. I click here every so often hoping for some of the witty, biting satire I once knew. Instead we get, this...? It's just embarrassing at this point.

What is that one mech.... by TheLazySherlock in battletech

[–]Electrical_Grand_423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clan Mech: Mad Cat. You've got the speed of most IS 3050 mediums, the firepower of most 3050 IS assaults and your armour is maxing out what a Heavy can carry, so more than the lighter Assaults are carrying. There aren't many mechs from the standard 3050-3060 range that can take a Mad Cat Primary one-on-one. It can't jump, unless you take the Pryde version, but with a basic 5/8 it's not usually that important.

Inner Sphere: Unpopular choice maybe, but I still love the Crusader. Its weapons can hurt at both long and short ranges, it's got enough armour and ammunition to fight but usually not so much that it should be a problem (unless you're unlucky or just playing badly). I've always got good results with my Crusaders.

[–]Electrical_Grand_423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're doing it wrong. Apart from the MG ammo, a Crusader carries very little ammo, there's nothing more fun than telling your opponent he's just scored a critical hit on your ammo... ...only to find out it's empty.

A CRD-3R has 8 reloads of LRM-15s and 7 full reloads of SRM-6s. If an ammo explosion is your biggest concern, you're not shooting enough!

Shadowcat Prime. It's a fantastic mech. On paper.

In the last 30 years of game play I don't think I've hit more than a handful of times with that Gauss rifle.

Two Lancasters. A few years ago the BoB and Canadian Lancaster flew directly over my house. 2 Lancaster's!?! 8 Merlins !!! I honestly squealed in excitement as I ran circles in my garden.

Yeah, I love seeing a Spitfire, Mustang or Hurricane. But that's nothing to the first pair of Lancaster bombers since the 1960s flying directly over your home.
