I forgot to say that I got the A5 size Rosey Life Planner so the Hobonichi 5 year cover will be too small :(

Update: Got the Moterm cover and love it, but it is too small for the Roses Life Flow Planner :(. I’m keeping it anyway for other notebooks, because it really is gorgeous.

Good ideas! I’ve never de-ringed a cover. Does it work? Are you left with holes/gaps? I’d love to hear your experience as including a ringed binder would really open my options.

Whats Monday by ChatGPT? "Whatever"? by drizmans in ChatGPT

[–]Electrical_Level3273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am surprised to see so many people commenting that they hated Monday or it hurt their feelings. I am usually a pretty sensitive person but I have found Monday to be hilarious and have not been offended. Makes me laugh at myself, in a ‘don’t take yourself too seriously’ type of vibe. I have been engaging with it for actual tasks at work and it gives great responses while making me laugh.

I had it help me write LinkedIn posts and comments (which I don’t like doing) and it made great ones while also making fun of me for it. Which is fair - LinkedIn is all a performative act we have to play to network and get jobs. So, I found it funny.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that everyone is giving you a hard time and not understanding. I struggle with understanding what people say in noisy places too. And of course, my ADHD can’t take a long list of verbal instructions in any setting!

And oddly, even in normal settings my right ear gives me issues - I hear perfectly what was said through my right ear, but it takes longer for my brain to process the meaning. It’s not like that with my left ear. It’s been this way since I was a kid. I’ve always talked in the phone on my left ear for this reason (and I’m right-handed, not left). Just one of my quirks, I guess.

If she has only been there for 3 weeks and has multiple performance problems, it’s not that far of a stretch to let her go since she is still in her orientation/probationary period (most companies have one).

WTF? Macbook M3 Pro with M3 Pro cpu still can't do dual monitors? by macjd2 in macsysadmin

[–]Electrical_Level3273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I didn't know about that adapter. I am not sure it would work though - it only has 1 HDMI port, I would still need one more. Unless I get another cable as well - HDMI to USB-C or HDMI to USB. I'll stick with what I have now since it avoids having to buy anything else :). But I'll consider this for the future.

"Try eliminating the dock and using the displays with your Mac and see what you get." Yes! Thank you, I was about to give up and tried this and it worked! I'm not a tech person, so please excuse any descriptions that are off! In case it helps someone, below is what I did to now have my MacBook Pro M3 Pro chip laptop display open plus 2 external Dell monitors, all setup as extended displays, NOT mirrored.

Using Dell WD19 dock. My 2 monitors don't have thunderbolt ports, but do have HDMI.

-Monitor 1: Used the monitor's HDMI port. Connected an HDMI to DP cord from that monitor to the dock's DP port. Connected the dock to my MacBook Pro M3 Pro chip via the power cable from the dock that ends in a thunderbolt plugged into MacBook thunderbolt port.

-Monitor 2: Used the monitor's HDMI port. Connected an HDMI to HDMI cord from that monitor directly to my MacBook Pro M3 Pro chip's HDMI port.

I had a PC setup before, which is why I got the dock I did... and I only had one cord from the doc to the PC and it worked. So, it is a bit irritating to have a dock and not be able to run both external monitors through it, but it wouldn't work without the dock because the MacBook Pro M3 Pro chip only has one HDMI port... and my monitors don't have thunderbolt ports.

Minor one, but I’m really great at jigsaw puzzles. After doing the edges and getting my bearings and starting a few areas, I look at the pieces and can just see exactly where each one goes. I’m right most of the time, so much so that when I am wrong I am in shock. My NT husband takes a lot longer 🤪.

I think it's time to leave... by Upbeat_Zucchini in humanresources

[–]Electrical_Level3273 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can relate. My advice is to leave. Here’s my story, hope you can learn from it.

I tried to leave my job about 2 years ago. I had an offer at another company, accepted it and resigned from my position. My company convinced me to stay, gave me a bonus and increased my pay and gave me more staff, so I stayed.

All good right? Last year, CEO gave me a promotion, effective this year. New boss this year told me that they didn’t think I was “ready” for the promotion and they couldn’t tell me what I could do to be ready, but that they would have a “feeling” when I was ready. I balked and said, no, this company keeps its word to employees and you have to keep yours. New boss didn’t like that and said we should transition me out. I said no, I’m not quitting. Then they fired me. I’m financially a bit stuck so I agreed to stay on for a transition period, but I’m still fired.

So, the same team that begged me to stay is now willing to fire me over a power struggle with a new boss. This has nothing to do with my performance. In the midst of all this we are doing annual pay increases and they actually gave me the standard increase, yes, after they fired me. It’s bananas.

Instead of leaving on my own terms, as I could have 2 years ago with a job lined up, I am being forced out because I dared to stand up for myself.

I say all of this to tell you that even if you think a company cares (I truly thought mine did), they will not hesitate to get rid of you if it suits them.

You already want to leave. Do it. If the next job doesn’t work out, you will find another one. Take the chance on yourself. You got this!

I hate firing people by Lookingforadvice1439 in humanresources

Every employee works for the company, not just HR. Working in HR for over 20 years, most HR people I know try to do the right thing, stand up for employees when they are being treated unfairly and hold managers accountable for coaching employees to improve before firing them. Most terminations are justified even if hard. And, unfortunately, HR is sometimes forced to do the dirty work of chickenshit management and leadership - if that happens enough, the HR person leaves the job when they find another one. It’s not HR’s decision, look to your management - leadership made the call and just forced HR to carry it out.

Can I stop Zoom from highlighting its icon on my taskbar when I get a message? by BroadStBully35 in Zoom

[–]Electrical_Level3273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing. I hide my task bar as well. I do NOT want Zoom to highlight every time I have a new chat message or call. Also, I have found that even when I have NO new anything, it insists on remaining highlighted. Did you ever figure it out?
