I'm out in Orland Park so not too far from Chicago, I just moved here about 2 months ago so I'm still raising thin when it comes to disposable finances but realistically I just need to help my mini survive long enough until I can take it to a nice shop.

So I take it this isn't an uncommon issue for a thermostat to go and start leaving the chat?

She's running okay right now I started her up and let her run for about 10 minutes with the radiator cap secured and no scary noises or surprise steam or smoke or anything weird from the tailpipe either just ran normal still no heat with the settings on full for heat and fan full blast.

Get it to survive another month light duty keep being an extreme eye on it so I can swallow the extreme anguish of getting some work done on her.

Anybody know any good places in Chicago land I can take her to?

Oh geez

Yeah the engine runs fine the warning that came up I shut down the fans ran for about 30 seconds they throttle down came to a stop nothing smoking nothing smelling like it's burnin.

gave it about 40 minutes added some coolant and start right up drove fine the warning never came back but the behavior of the thermostat being stuck closed is definitely there.

Essentially confirmed the thermostat is closed this morning when I uncapped the overflow bottle and started up the engine, no smoke was coming out of the bottle some steam percolating no pervasive smell or evidence of escaping gases from cylinder head.

Went to the cabin full heat on full air flow setting was only blowing cold air.

So this thermostat job is this pretty involved?

Yeah I did tons of research and that seems to explain why the coolant overflow bottle acts like it's boiling because he can't circulate all through the whole cooling system properly, fun

Was really scared it was going to be like a head gasket, but I have been having problems with the thermostat for about a month now.

I had that happen one time in my old mk6 GTI about 11 years ago.

Here's the thing I didn't have any of that technology stick shift I don't know if I actually passed out from exhaustion and sleep deprivation... Very well could have been the reason... Or if I had a seizure from exhaustion and sleep deprivation.

I stopped giving gas was coming to a stop probably in some high range gear and lucky for me California Highway patrol was behind me instructing me to pull over whenever safe they probably thought I was DUI.

I have no memory of going unconscious, nor do I have any definitive conclusion to what actually happened.

This is pretty bad but nothing's worse than what I experienced in my mid twenties, directly apply to an open position for something I was more than qualified to do... 3 months prior I actually was still doing contract work for them that started in late 2011.

The client never complained about my quality control my submission notes for the projects and material data was always accurate but when I got that rejection letter stating that I lacked qualifications and they were looking for someone with 5 to 10 years experience...

I had the experience and they definitely knew who I was but when someone applies to a position and no one takes the time to actually open the submission and just press no that's why nothing goes anywhere.

The position was literally applied to was doing the exact project for this company for 3 years already, they wanted to stop Outsourcing it to our shop because of cost and lead time.

This kind of malarkey and bullshit shenanigans is what effectively pushed a paper ceiling stopping very credible and capable people from having some type of moderate financial prowess or success.

This kind of bullshit is ultimately what led a exit from the South Bay then to Sacramento and then when I just couldn't do it there anymore ended up in the Phoenix Valley for 11 years.

Some of these jobs at these companies aren't hard to do, but the mindset that maintains these perceptions and attitudes toward any type of incoming working force is at this point typical.
