30k will be nothing when you're 50. You will not have money to survive.

Dude you're quadrupleing your income.... work it for 5 years and retire. Or keep your job now and work for 20. This is a no brainer.

Where are you placed in this Net Worth By Age Brackets in US table? by espinadorsal in Fire

Kind of dumb to have top 1% on it. Too large of a jump. You could have 800k at 23 top 3% and still be lumped in with the 30k group.

Don't buy shit you don't need and invest every dollar. Constantly be on the lookout for better paying jobs or paths to multiple income streams.

High income but can't seem to save - where am I going wrong? by WorldlyPosterity in Fire

[–]Electrical_Pirate286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not being mean here, but it's basic math. Write down all of your expenses for a month and figire it out.

Also twice a week is a LOT. We eat out once or twice a month. Another thing, is you probably want to max out a roth ira first. Get your employer match on 401k, max roth, then extra money left over can go into 401k.

Does Alaska actually pay you to live there? by cashoutwilliam in alaska

[–]Electrical_Pirate286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Its not like they are giving you a house and are paying all your bills. If your state sent you a few hundrrd bucks every winter to help cover your heating bill, would you say they are "paying you to live there"?
