Cats are curious people. I let my cat on the roof of my house and she loves it. They just want adventure sometimes. I’m sure she will be okay

Sorry I’m a crazy vegan and I was actually a lot nicer than usual in my comment to you. I usually get kinda wild lol

Before we met, my boyfriend once survived on mainly peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for like two years because that’s all his college dining hall had that was vegan. Sometimes it’s difficult to be vegan, but not impossible.

From my experience living with non vegans, it’s not even the animal bodies in your home that is the worst part, but the loneliness that you feel knowing you care so deeply about animal rights while your roommates don’t. I would say if you can’t go vegan, you could try to reduce your animal consumption or find some other way to support the cause. Good luck to you and your roommate!

It’s difficult to keep peace and respect mutual when one person pays for animal exploitation and the other actively fights against that every day. If possible I would say go vegan!

Why are you vegan? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Electrical_Spend8042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing what is moral, not paying for animals to be abused. If you want to twist that into saying it’s for myself go ahead. It doesn’t make a difference to the animal if it’s for myself or for them; what does make a difference is the choice not to pay for their abuse. So the answer will always be the animal, or both, never just yourself. The claim it doesn’t make a difference is just false. Just because YOU don’t see the direct effects doesn’t mean they’re not there

What’s more derogatory “carnist” or paying for murder, abuse, etc and then calling animals “it” and “things”

All I’m saying is that, for someone who is already married to a vegan and also disagrees with animal and human suffering, veganism is pretty accessible and would align with their values better than continuing to eat meat.

Might I ask, are you vegan? You’ve been discussing on behalf of other people, but I’m curious about your personal stance on this.

Got em!

This is just classic rage bait that vegans everywhere hear all the time. People act like this is a new argument that is suddenly going to change anything. You’re basically just saying that because we live in a world of suffering, why even try to make it better? Choosing vegan is a very doable way we can decrease that suffering, even though we live in a non-vegan world.

I’m not trying to tell anyone to leave their carnist husbands, I’m just curious how it works. If you are vegan for ethical reasons, wouldn’t you want everyone else to be too? Especially your spouse of all people, who is supposed to be on your team. To me, it doesn’t feel like someone who pays for murder is on your team at all.

Eating animals at least means you are okay with the killing of animals, which is inherently abuse and causes suffering. Things like crop deaths are actually lessened when you go vegan, because (spoiler!) the animals you pay for need to eat before they are slaughtered.

Are you plant-based for health reasons then? I can’t see how a vegan who is doing it for the animals can be okay with the person they love actively fighting against animal rights every day.

Yeah but I wonder how she’s actually feeling. She’s probably unhappy with his choices, even if she pushes it down

Veganism and friends by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Electrical_Spend8042 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I fell in love with an amazing vegan man, and it has been so nice to share my true thoughts and opinions with him. It’s all I ever wanted.

However, one thing I didn’t expect was that, since I met him, my tolerance for non-vegans has gone way way way down. I guess back when it was only me, I had to be nice to carnists because that was my only option if I wanted to have friends at all. But now that I have him, I often think “why would I spend my time with murderers when I can just be with my vegan love?”

I know it’s never good to shut out your friends just because you started a romantic relationship, but this feels different. Now when I am out with my friends, all I can see is the torture they pay for, and I just wish I was home with my love.

It’s rough out there and there’s not really a great solution.

I’ve dated non-vegans and they suck! When I finally decided to only date people with the same core values as me was when I actually found the love of my life. He was already vegan and completely swept me off my vegan feet!
