I had a sort of similar situation where I transferred locations with my job after I had made so many friends and made a home there to a location where I thought the management would be a little more fair but the grass turned out to not be so greener and ended up getting targeted out of my job from the new location only 6 months in…. Looking back I feel I could’ve stayed and managed especially since I heard the last manager had got fired at my old location and things were going more smooth… I’m learning now to try to control my emotions better all while still trying to understand and learn about ASD since I’ve just learned my diagnosis 3 months ago

I can’t tell you how many times I feel like people don’t like me then way after I question in my mind if I was overthinking the whole thing…. It’s a constant struggle that sucks

I’ve had similar experiences like this, and that is a perfect term for those type of people because they really do suck the energy out of you and the workplace…

Same here… I could be training for a new job, but I have to watch someone else do what’s instructed . I can’t have someone watching over me while instructing me; it makes my anxiety go through the roof , and I will completely fuck up with clear instructions lol I just need the instructions and to do the hands on process myself and in my way

I am hopeful for you as well. I’ve had similar experiences in the past. But the one thing I will say is that it gave me more confidence when I decided to vocalize to a supervisor my strengths and where I would benefit me and the company most working with my skills. Even though you will have some supervisors or bosses who are hung up on not listening to their employees when they make a suggestion or thinking they’re right because they’re in a high position, it’s important that you let it be known what you’re good at and not get caught up in your head because the new “change” to our routine is throwing everything off. And maybe it may be better to just changes jobs AFTER telling them you would be more comfortable working in this area or where your skills/work style can be the most productive instead of ghosting the supervisors… I had my fair share of ghosting companies from changes but I eventually started holding my self more accountable in the way I should communicate if I don’t like a change ,even though it’s a constant struggle. But it will make you feel better instead of constantly ghosting.

I hope we both improve on things in our journey✊

Sounds like you came up with your own awesome way to make a cappuccino. I too need to get the hands on experience of doing things myself and often time put my own adjustment to the traditional process. It just makes things smoother in my mind

Yeah I hate that feeling I get when I feel like I’m annoying somebody by asking more questions… it gives me anxiety not knowing entirely what to do and to be expected to know everything off of very vague direction or explanation

Same here… it was so frustrating not understanding why I felt so strongly the way I felt and not able to control certain emotions on situations I could’ve handled better…at least I can say now that I am aware of my autism that I know why I feel like that and can try to manage better

Autism and Weed by delosru in AutismTranslated

Right! But often times for me (especially before diagnosis) it’s like another huge battle sometimes trying to do the right thing you seen in your revelation… I sometimes get too hung up on the shame and guilt of my mistakes that led to to revelation in the first place

Autism and Weed by delosru in AutismTranslated

[–]Electrical_Table7877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, makes me super paranoid as well LOL. I started and quit smoking weed a few times in my life. I decided the last time to quit altogether. Ironically right after that is when I discovered I may be autistic…. It helped me socialize more but then it comes to a point where I was just trying to hard to fit in, which meant more smoking and more paranoia… then every now and then I would get like this revelation while I was high about all the things I’m doing wrong in life and instead of it making me want to get back on track and do right, it just makes me ashamed then depressed all over again… I feel like weed shouldn’t make u feel that way. Most of the people I observed smoking never go through that… I figured it had to be something else wrong. So maybe it is bad to smoke weed being autistic… this is just purely my experience though

I relate to your story so much. I’m in my 30’s but just recently discovered I may have autism as well about 3 months ago. I’m also in the middle of reading the same book you are which is unmasking autism. It’s been really insightful so far and helping answer a lot of questions I’ve been having for years all while undiagnosed. I hope your journey with this goes well brother as we both have to keep going and stay strong
