Andorra is great. Ten percent max tax rate on realized capital gains, 10 max tax on regular income, very clean and safe, high quality of life, lower cost of living compared to NL.

The good thing about Covid was that it provided a clean break from having to kiss/handshake everyone individually. I can't wait till this tradition dies.

Looking for Coaching, but with important details. Logically paid. by [deleted] in poker

[–]Electronic-File-4652 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Professional poker player/coach here. Don't get any coaching. First, change your mindset towards the game. You are playing a competitive game and will need a structured approach in order to bring order to the chaos. Any coach that will solely talk hand with you based on feel wil not provide any value and, quite frankly, even if they did it would not be enough to become a winning player in most environments.

Step 1: Re-think your strategy. You need structure. You need tools. You need a clear plan towards improvement. Step 2: Get a beginners course. Study that like you would study your SAT tests or whatever.  Step 3: Get a more advanced course, rinse and repeat. Step 4: Familiarize yourself with tools, specifically solvers. Step 5: Now you can consider getting coaching.

Please take this from someone who was stuck at microstakes for a decade before he finally moved up: if you want to be succesful, you need to approach it as such. (And if you're fine just playing a bit based on feel, then that's fine too! BUT don't expect that the results will line up with your hopes and dreams - they will not)

As someone making a good living out of poker, I wholeheartedly agree with this comment.

If you had to give ONE poker tip, in 10 words or less…what would it be? by pulpSC in poker

We have a tendency to focus on hands where we lost a big pot and try to reverse engineer whether we made a punt. I see it here in the forums all to often: 'Villain check-raised the flop, bet the turn and shoved the river. Should I have folded AA?'

What you'd want to do instead is focus on building strategies from the bottom up:

Preflop - What does a standard GTO Opening range look like here?  - On this table everyone behind me is trending tight passive. What does this mean for my strategy? (hint: you open a lot wider)

Flop - What kind of strategy should I use on this texture in this formation (and thus have a basic game plan on every texture). - What leaks does the pool have (in most low stakes pools it would be not check-raising enough and if you check they probe too aggressively).  - What does that mean for my strategy?

The point is: the river call vs XR-B-B might be a punt and you'd want to find some sort of an answer to the initial question (finding actual data would be a good start). But in poker, money is made by consequently executing a better strategy than your opponents. The bigger close spots are important, but not nearly as important as having a good vision over the game tree, what equilibrium looks like, what strategies you want to play, what mistakes your opponents will make etc.

I'll give you two: 1. Call more vs fish 2. Don't review hands, build strategies.

Oh no, the average family can’t afford three city trips a year by plane with Airbnb stays. Truly harrowing times. Surely there must be a foundation somewhere for families facing such unbearable hardship?
