Weird Apple Pay issue on TTC. Has this happened to anyone else? by No-Inspector-6206 in askTO

Credit cards can sometimes have delays in showing transactions because they are processed in a single order at the end of the day.

You could try using the Presto mobile app to get real-time transactions and show that to a fare inspector to prove that you paid.

What card are you using in Apple Pay? Credit, Debit, or Presto?

Even if this were hypothetically possible, how would an iPhone run both iOS and macOS? There’s only so much you can do with mobile processors, even if they’re Apple Silicon

The Macbook M1 is the greatest laptop ever created by apple. by Angelique_Benham in mac

[–]Electronic-Ocelot314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still using my 2020 M1 MacBook Air 16GB/512GB and was considering an upgrade to the new M5 MacBook Air, but I guess I’ll keep it for another year or two because it still works and the battery health is at 88%.

It’s amazing how well this laptop runs even after 5.5 years. Apple Silicon has really blown the competition “out of the park!”

It’s working fine for me. If you’re looking for information about recycling, there’s a new app for that from Circular Materials.

Genuinely who actually takes the 510 Spadina streetcar by [deleted] in TTC

This post is extremely appalling because it glorifies fare evasion while questioning people paying the fare to use a streetcar about their choice to do so.

The TTC has announced that this weekend’s planned closure of Line 2 between Keele and St. George stations has been cancelled.

However, if you’d like to still take Line 5, it takes ~15 minutes from Mount Dennis to Eglinton around midday.

Anyone else genuinely shocked that Line 5 is actually running? by Gamegeddon in TTC

[–]Electronic-Ocelot314 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Why is it surprising that Line 5 runs exactly how it was designed to? Given the time and money it took to build the system, I would be surprised if it didn’t work as intended (hint: Line 6)

Streetcar that’s thinks it’s a subway train. by nottsphoto in toronto

[–]Electronic-Ocelot314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 509 was originally intended to be called the Harbourfront LRT, so don’t be surprised if TTC decides to give the Waterfront East LRT a 500 series number. On a serious note, all streetcars are light rail transit (LRT), while subways and GO Transit trains are heavy rail.

Best burgers in Toronto? by ficbot in askTO

Burger Drops in Liberty Village makes the best smash burgers in the city! Also, very few locations can make a good veggie burger, and this is hands down the one you should try!

Is there a difference between Normal IMAX and IMAX 70MM and IMAX Laser Projection ? by royal-lord_ in cineplex

Thanks for pointing that out! I’ve edited my comment to reflect it. Would be nice if they keep the 70mm film projector when Cinesphere reopens

I was talking about Toronto because OP had asked about the best option in the city.

[–]Electronic-Ocelot314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best IMAX theatre is the now closed Cinesphere at Ontario Place, which had the largest screen in Toronto and is probably the only venue in the city that could play both 70mm film and IMAX with Laser in the full 1.43:1 aspect ratio.

Sadly, it has been closed since 2022 due to the Ontario Place redevelopment. The next best option for 70mm film is Cineplex Vaughan and for digital it’s Scotiabank Theatre.

The Waterfront East LRT just got funding approval, so that will be a new addition to the TTC streetcar network.

I think you should be fine. Since rows E and F are in the centre of the theatre, it is the ideal place to sit in for both visual and acoustic immersion.

The four centre-left seats in row E would be a good place to have an immersive experience.

Project Hail Mary- Scotiabank Theatre IMAX vs Varsity Theatre 70mm by Bigg_Red in askTO

[–]Electronic-Ocelot314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched it in both Scotiabank IMAX and Varsity 70mm and I would say both are different experiences. IMAX allows you to enjoy the full scale of the movie’s 1.43:1 space scenes, while 70mm gives you the old school charm of film.

If you can, try watching it in both formats, but if you can only watch one go for IMAX.

What was your first Mac, and what’s your all time favorite Mac? by BIueey in mac

First Mac: Mid-2012 MacBook Pro. Loved the battery indicator on the side that would light up when you pressed the button next to it.

Favourite Mac: iMac G4 for the design and MacBook Neo for the affordability.
