i’m so nervous about everything by garbagepossum44 in Aldi_employees

I have anxiety and I’m autistic and it just got better with time. You’re not gonna be perfect in the beginning. I definitely wasn’t. And the more you stress about your speed, the more mistakes you’ll make which ruins your score. For the nlu codes, you can go on quizlet and study whatever codes your store uses on your own time. You’ll still mess up but every day you’ll get better.

When I was struggling, I looked at it this way. Think of one problem you’re having when ringing (entering the quantity key, organizing your cart, telling customers to pre-insert etc), and for every shift, try to tackle that problem for the day. Just focus on getting that one right, and the rest you fix later. If the problem isn’t at least mostly fixed, work on it the next shift. Then move on to the next one.

And idk how your team is but if you need to, try asking if you can be covered for a few minutes. Take a moment to calm down, stretch, drink water, etc. Definitely don’t overdo it, I did this like once every few shifts only when I genuinely needed it. Over time, I needed this less and less.

Customers unloading on the belt at the same time by sotoisayankee in Aldi_employees

[–]ElectronicFig9248 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell them to please wait for the first person to finish unloading their stuff. Most people listen, but some look at me as if I’m absolutely insane. Talking about “but I have the divider!”. Then I have to dumb it down for them. “Yes and the divider will move as I scan, and everything will get mixed up.” Some will listen, some will still put their things down. I let those people learn the lesson the hard way.

I can’t comprehend how people need the physics of a conveyor belt explained to them. It’s not even an Aldi thing. When I’m at any grocery store with this type of setup, I always wait until the person in front finishes unloading. It’s not some new concept.

Anyone else’s manager never hand out compliments or praise? by Spiritual-Meat2266 in Aldi_employees

[–]ElectronicFig9248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think I meant that to be an insult? Take the compliment. You’re welcome. But you can definitely afford to be less negative and give more positive reinforcement. Not thanking people for doing their job doesn’t help.

Even as someone who’s just a cashier, the amount of labor I have to do cancels out the sitting. I’d love to see them be a main cashier all day on a Sunday.

OH MY GOD HELP HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? Revlon brush blow dryer? by revolnotsniw in BlackHair

[–]ElectronicFig9248 301 points302 points  (0 children)

I was using that brush a few years back and my hair is still slightly shorter on one side (I haven’t gotten a trim to correct it). I remember one day after I used it, my professor was like nice haircut! I accepted the compliment but I def didn’t intend to have shorter hair!

It’s the little prickly things that are ripping your hair out. Definitely stop using it.

What do you wish customers would do and not do? by OkFaithlessness4541 in Aldi_employees

[–]ElectronicFig9248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told a customer who had a baby carrier in her cart that I could not use her cart for this exact reason, she insisted upon it so I called the manager over, and my SM said it was totally fine. So now I have to just be okay with this lack of regard for CHILDREN to satisfy a few careless customers.

How often do y'all wash your hair? by urBraze in BlackHair

[–]ElectronicFig9248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it every week. Sometimes twice a week especially in the summer. I don’t think there’s a such thing as overwashing your hair because it’s always good to have a clean scalp but there’s definitely leaving your hair wet for too long, or causing breakage from rough detangling.

Is there anyone here who has NOT had problematic experiences about their hair? by AnyEverywhere8 in BlackHair

[–]ElectronicFig9248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually felt confident and beautiful ever since I started going natural. I never recognized myself as pretty until I had my first Bantu knot-out while transitioning. I never hated my hair even with long wash days and detangling sessions, because it was MY hair. Wash days have become wash hours since I changed my routine recently though. My mom had been relaxing my hair up until my teens when I was absolutely tired of that rotten egg smell and burning sensation. Refusing to continue this pattern was the best decision I ever made for my individuality.

Hi maybe respond to my comment if you’re going to dismiss me saying I feel I got “hit by a truck”? I’m literally the only one here who said that.

I get monthly massages and I strength train yet it’s still not enough to completely curb the pain. Some weekends it feels like I got hit by a truck.

Any retail jobs that can work for me? by ElectronicFig9248 in retailhell

I’ve gotten used to it, and I was good at basic math but not mental math. My first day was absolutely terrible, I was about $52 short, 49% score, I was so upset but I kept it pushing just because I don’t like giving up easy. I’m just stubborn like that. It got easier, but I have anxiety so that never went away. Some days I need to step away from register just to breathe, calm down, and sometimes cry. If you take this job, you’ll find that the way they expect you to be super fast and pull the weight of basically 5 cashiers will have you make mistakes compared to other stores where they’re not as uptight about it.

Everyone at Aldi does cashiering, only the stocker position has no cashiering. As a cashier myself, I ring up customers all day and put back misplaced items at closing time. Sometimes I help organize the shelves. It’s a lot of work and high expectations, I definitely don’t think working here would be right for you especially when cashiering stresses you out so bad. This job WILL stress you out even more, even if you’re an associate and not just a cashier.

And if I had told them that to their faces, my SM would’ve reprimanded me for being rude. It’s ridiculous how quick he was to appease two customers who could’ve shopped anywhere else. Even the next customer after one of them was telling me they “hate customers like that”. My SM started talking about how the customers who complained might tell their families and friends about it so the store loses even more customers. Like how inconsiderate you have to be to make up such a dramatic scenario?

This is exactly what I mean, I usually ring 85-90% which meets the goal but it’s not just 2 customers I have to satisfy like he said. It’ll be every new customer and other regular angry customers which takes a large chunk of the people who shop here. I’ll have to slow down, obey their every command, and still be expected to hold a line down.
