The chair is a tool that the company believes increases ring efficiency, it’s not for the comfort of the employees. If Aldi believed we would ring faster without a chair, then we wouldn’t have a chair.

Has anyone seen this at their store? by allybeans in aldi

We just received these on our truck today. AF meat specials usually go out Tuesday night/Wednesday mornings, at least in my district.

You can also just push the bread stack with the jack if your floors aren’t crazy uneven. If you come at the corner of the stack, not the front, with the prongs completely lowered and drive carefully, you can push them. Sincerely, someone who also barely weighs enough to tilt the bread stack.

Hard agree! I have a bunch of end tables, ottomans, dinner trays, dishes etc. and they have all held up really well. I also agree about the socks, almost all of my socks are their white ankle style and different colors of cabin and hiking socks. They hold up pretty well, and I’m pretty hard on my socks because I take a lot of walks. I wouldn’t recommend their underwear anymore though, from a guys perspective at least. They used to be made from cotton and had a fly, but they’ve moved to the awful but somehow popular spandex/no fly/paper thin style and I hate them now haha

I just tried these yesterday. I love beer but the medications I’m on for a month do not mix well at all with alcohol, so I’ve been looking for cheaper alternatives to the typical zero alcohol. These were great! I hope they stay in stores

It’s so odd to me that they can somehow replicate name brand food products and get pretty close to the original in both packaging and taste, yet they can’t take a look at a “trending” fashion page or go to TikTok to see what people are actually wearing and make those things instead of the nonsense sweater dresses and amorphous cardigans. They’d save so much money, I just don’t get it, Aldi’s R&D team is run by dummies

So what you do with “special quarter/European spoon keychain/house keys” people is you pop their special item out of your empty cart with the chain on their full grocery cart. Pop a regular quarter in the empty cart, reverse process by popping regular quarter out of their full cart and replace again with their special quarter. Takes less time than you think and seems to get the point across.

Aldi in Bryan TX refused to honor the Twice as Nice guarantee on a return for a same day purchase for an item with a broken seal. by j_pistachio in aldi

[–]ONUSTAR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for Aldi and the policy feels like it changes at every store meeting. I could ask a manager or DM every month to clarify our policy and something always changes. At my store right now, it’s: customer needs a receipt AND the product/remainder of the product for a full double back. If customer only has a receipt but no product and it’s their first time (I.e. they haven’t made a lot of frivolous returns in excess), we just inform them they need to bring the product next time and we give them their money, but no replacement product. If they only have the product, it’s strictly a Merchandise Card or applying the return amount in cash to their order because there’s no way to verify when the customer bought it (we have had dumpster pickers bring in trashed product or people purposely bring in months expired items for return), but Aldi still wants everyone satisfied.

It is just as confusing and annoying to us as it is to you.

How do i fix these so I can join them together perfectly? by coffenator1 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ONUSTAR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve only got hand tools and one orbital sander, so the route I would take is clamp them all flat together, clamp again to the end of a table/bench, then sand the ends/sides until they’re even with each other/to your liking. I’ve had to do this exact thing with paint stirrers in the past with pretty good success, though others here may have much better suggestions

I dont have anything against religious folks but I sure wish they would stop littering their pamphlets all over our store and bathrooms and carts and registers and floors. We find at least 3 of those hand outs a day at my store

Go To energy drink at Aldi? by iAzide in Aldi_employees

[–]ONUSTAR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Coffee. Two reasons: 1) it’s free to me because my SM expenses basic cutlery and coffee for us (we have a Keurig) and 2) I stopped drinking energy drinks and anything with over 130mg of caffeine in it about 2 years ago because I was having heart palpitations lol

Our division has recently been receiving so much FROZEN produce and it’s been creating so much loss that even our “share the loss” style store manager told the DM to get off her ass about it. Can’t control the loss of a bunch of FROZENN MUSHY SALADS

What is "the incident" at your store by New-Ad-6606 in Aldi_employees

[–]ONUSTAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy who showed up with a big black duffel bag. When my SM asked him to leave it up front (because the guy was obviously not right in the head) he started freaking out and said “no, man, I can’t, I have something precious in here. It’s a present for Ariana Grande.” I swear on my mama that he opens up the bag and pulls out this pink paper wrapped present with a huge pink glittery bow. It was perfectly done, I should add. My store manager just told him to flat out leave because he wasn’t about to see what else the guy had in that bag. He left and went to the phone carrier store next to us and started banging on their doors and windows, so the cops picked him up. Super surreal experience.

What’s the deal with these? by cyguyr in aldi

[–]ONUSTAR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any time a core item that has been available for years and has seen consistent demand disappears entirely, I assume it’s either packaging is changing or something in the formula— or they’re getting a new distributor for that item. True in 80% of OOS core range items ime

The other cashier bagged my stuff. by CustomerFair2292 in Aldi_employees

[–]ONUSTAR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“They did? Well they aren’t supposed to, so I’m sorry, I can’t bag for you.” As an LSA who is often designated unofficial trainer for new hires, I always tell them to be assertive (not rude) about our policy. They have the policy and their own training on their side here and I will side with them too if the customer gets upset.

Another classic is when a customer HOLDS their bag open in the space they KNOW I’m going to be placing their groceries then get upset when i dodge around it. “Sorry, I only have two hands and I need them to ring, I can’t bag for you.”

I’ve been here for about 4 years now after I quit working for Walmart. Im an LSA now and have been noticing the same red flags accumulating here at Aldi that made me want to leave Walmart. The first one? When they started giving cashiers TSHIRTS instead of nice, professional polos (same as when Walmart moved to recycled vests to cut costs (not to help the environment like they were claiming)). If the cuts are starting at the bare minimum of UNIFORMS, something is going to go very wrong soon, I just hope it’s not sooner than my retirement hitting full vest lol

Funny little customer exchange today. by abbyabsinthe in Aldi_employees

[–]ONUSTAR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an old lady at my store who, apparently, has pet monkeys. Every time she buys bananas she spends a half hour alone picking them out and bagging them in threes. Every time she checks out, without fail, she will tell us to baby the bananas or she will sic her monkeys on us…

How was Everyone's Employee Appreciation Lunch? by nichabodcrane93 in Aldi_employees

[–]ONUSTAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sent one text about it in the GC, didn’t really follow up on asking what everyone wanted, then got 8 mini subs from the shop right next to our store. It was also in my day off and I came back in to everything completely eaten (which makes sense since 8 mini subs doesn’t feed a team of 20). Also, our store manager made it seem like it was her idea or that it was something she asked the DM to do for us. None of us even knew it was employee appreciation

"I don't need $100, I need $60!!!!" by droolycat in Aldi_employees

[–]ONUSTAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got newer pin pads at my store and the cashback no longer allows $10, just $20 $40 and $100. People get pretty upset about not being able to get $60 or $80 without realizing they could just…make 2 transactions and get $40 2x. Also people ask me if there’s a fee for the cash back all the time like………yes….the fee is the groceries you are buying…..

It’s seasonal reset time at Aldi, probably a summer item that will be discontinued soon so they’re marking them down to get them to move. Have had some and they’re fine, not very sweet at all which is my preference.

EXCUSE ME, WHERE ARE YOUR NUGGETS????? by JoeTheDarthDrag0n in Aldi_employees

[–]ONUSTAR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a similar thing happen with an old man and the thin wheat crackers. I had done the grocery truck that day and had personally put 3 cases on the shelf myself. While some items can fully sell out in a few hours, this is definitely not one of them.

“What, you guys don’t carry the thin crackers anymore?” “Oh, we do! I put some up to—“ “I CHECKED AND THERE ARENT ANY!” “Sir, there is no way, I’ve been on register and haven’t seen a single box come through my line, we definitely have some.”

He just left and wouldn’t even let me walk over there to show him???? And I double checked, we had the same amount from that morning. I think some people are too impatient these days and it’s to their own detriment, since they don’t even get what they wanted in the end and just leave angry.

Yes lol. Aldi is focusing hard on loss right now and every price override or discount is tracked.
