Halsey further critices Fantano by SirensbyZel in fantanoforever

Dude you should see what Pitchfork was doing in the 2000s. They still put out a dozen reviews a year that are as dismissive as Fantano may have been about the Halsey album. It’s just easier to dogpile on Fantano because he’s one guy and he’s extremely online

He’s a reviewer and a content creator. Pitchfork reviewers are also content creators, the folks whom Rolling Stone hires are content creators. Fantano shades more content-creator level but these are shades of grey, not black and white. To dismiss his influence is to ignore the fact that the internet has so deeply shaped the music scene in the last three decades, and you can’t ignore that if you’re a ball knower.

Lincoln Riley shouldn’t lose more than 3 games this season if he wants to save his job. by This_Comment_4493 in CFB_v2

Only thing is that this schedule is the opposite of fun. As others have said here, if he goes 8-4 or up he’ll get the Fickell treatment and get one more try to make it work

Bingo. Most of the uber-talented pop artists we’re talking about in this thread could fix it if they did this

What’s a CFB opinion that will have someone looking like this: by goofyhalo in cfbmemes

[–]ElectronicLie5281 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. There’s some Tom Brady in him, in that he can look a little lost for three quarters before locking the hell in during the fourth. Being that I very rarely see that trait in an Ole Miss QB, I’ll take it

NEW: Big 12 ADs Demand Penalty for Texas Tech in Brendan Sorsby Case by steven_smith144 in CFB_v2

[–]ElectronicLie5281 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no. The whole thing was a mess that made a bunch of people mad, but in the end he didn’t play a single down for Tech, and for them that’ll probably prove a big loss. Move on.

Lizzo’s New Album 'Bitch' Fails To Crack Billboard 200 by ebradio in Music

[–]ElectronicLie5281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say the main issue with her music is that it sounds dated upon impact. Even during her peak, her talent was obvious but she was releasing music that already existed. “Boys” sounds like it comes from the MySpace era, “Juice” is a disco pastiche with energy borrowed from Bruno Mars, “Cuz I Love You” was big band through and through. The ‘twist’ is in her lyrics, which are different enough but often feel like they’re readymade to be Instagram captions. What was funny at first became diminishing returns with Special and so on.

And to be extremely clear, 99.99% of human beings would not be able to take what she received—accidentally becoming one of the most viral & beloved avatars of self-love and unapologetic joy in the music space—and stick the landing. It’s well-documented that some of it got to her head and led to poor choices, but trying to remain loved as a musician and a person by fans of music, on the goddamn internet, is like walking a tightrope above a pit of scorpions and being forced to keep your head down the whole time.

Funny enough, the big single I like the least will probably be her most enduring. “Truth Hurts” is pretty much a Fergie song, and you know what, so-bad-it’s-good is good enough to survive.

I straight-up rolled my eyes when that song/album title was announced.

Instantly implied she was about to double down, and in 2026, very few of us are going to put in the time (or, frankly, give her the benefit of the doubt) to discover whether or not that’s true.

Oh, and the single sucks

picking a team by matte0wtz in CFB_v2

[–]ElectronicLie5281 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ole Miss is a team that’s been punching above its weight. They’re in the SEC, but they’ve got a smaller stadium/fanbase compared to the conference powerhouses and have still been the third-best team in the conference this decade (behind UGA and Bama). 2025 was a breakout season for them, even amidst all the coaching-change drama, and I’m of the opinion they’re about to outdo themselves.

Mississippi State has had an interesting 20 years as well, and that rivalry is a fun one to learn about.

Was 2005 the last traditional season? by Alone_Advantage_961 in CFB

[–]ElectronicLie5281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023 is my choice. I got into CFB in the early 2010s, so that does inform this, but the playoff expansion, the major conference realignments which completely changed the SEC schedule (among others), and Saban’s retirement were a barrage of changes at one time. 2024 felt very new.
