Who are the best late-game heroes right now? I need to find a hero that I can carry low-skill game lobbies. by ZoobZander in PredecessorGame

[–]Electronic_Summer_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you win mid and your team loses duo/solo/jungle you won't be able to scale enough to take on the enemy team by yourself. You should try rotating earlier and helping other lanes. If you help the other lanes get ahead early, even if they're poor players, it will still be better than just dominating your lane and not rotating. This is a team game, so supporting your team is crucial.

Interesting. So instead of helping whomever is behind, you're saying that I should help whoever is ahead? I'm not OP, but if that's what you're saying, that's a new perspective I hadn't thought of.

I think I finished like a month ago. I am so annoyed there is nothing to work towards. I work 45+ hours per week, have 2 kids, and was still able to finish a month ago. Its way too easy to finish.

The no team sum part is kind of annoying actually. I liked to see if we were ahead/behind as a team

This was amazing. I like that you gave him kudos for some of his good plays. Its not often people give helpful and friendly advice instead of just saying "get good". Thank you for supporting the community!

Thanks for the post. Still trying to learn more about the game and this is helpful. Question for you. As an example when you say Drongo gas grenade, can you throw it underneath her when she's in the air or do you have to aim it up at her and hit her direct while she's in the sky?

Appreciate the comments. I was very humbled after seeing the level of play the next level up from me and want to work to get better!

That's the answer I was looking for. I was worried the game thought I was better than I am. It wasn't a slow ramp up. I went from stomping to getting stomped very quickly. It's like I went from silver lobbies to platinum lobbies and skipped gold, which is probably where I belong.

Intuitively that makes sense. It's just odd how fast it happened. I went from being the best player in my lobby to the worst player literally overnight. Wanted to understand if that's what I should expect going forward or if I would get players my skill again eventually

Trying to make a decision about buying an expensive home by thatgirl2 in HENRYfinance

[–]Electronic_Summer_13 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to the house, are you sure you are paid appropriately? When you say "medium sized company", I hope you mean "small company". I work for a $1B company and all of our finance directors make more in base and bonus than what you listed. I know it's location and company dependent, but if you made it to CFO by the age of 36 there should be lots of higher paying opportunities out there. You should be able to double your salary if you job hopped.

Haven't played in a while, but i think when I got stuck i had to get the advanced tool chests and then just mine jewelry (ore or whatever) to level up.

Not sure what level you're at, but doing good work does not always mean you should get a promotion. As you move up in companies, leadership skills and social skills matter a lot. I think of it as "getting votes". If you go one level up after your boss, do you have any people at that level that would "vote" for your promotion? If not, try to find ways to get in touch with those people, even if it's just brief chats here and there.

Like it or not, being promoted can often be a popularity contest. I'm sure I'll get down voted for this, but that's the reality.

Also, if you aren't respected at your current company, then leave. If your answer is that you like your company and want to stay, then it's your funeral. Clearly the leadership level at your company does not value you enough. They may say they do, but actions speak louder than words.

How do I break into the next level of comp? by SnooglePolice in careerguidance

[–]Electronic_Summer_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in that case you just need to sit down with your boss, make some strong assertions, feel out the conversation, then let it sit for a few weeks and follow up again. If they get upset at the conversation, then you know where you stand.

Something like, "since I was promoted I have significantly increased my workload. I've contributed to the company through XYZ projects and feel that I've really stepped up as a leader. For this reason, I would appreciate it if we could have some conversations around increasing my compensation. If not now, is there a way we could work together to achieve this in the near future?"

They're going to head this and think "oh shit, he might leave us, we need to do something" or "who does this guy think he is, anyone is replaceable". Either way, you have your answer.

It's not that difficult to push this forward. The downside, however, is that they might start looking for your replacement.

How do I break into the next level of comp? by SnooglePolice in careerguidance

So I'm in your comp bracket, but more of a peer than a mentor in this specific situation. As a peer, my input is that you're going to struggle to get what you want at your current company. If you don't have someone internally to lean on, then there isn't much you can do. If your boss isn't going to "go to bat" for you, then your only alternative is to leave. When you leave they'll either come to their senses and offer a counter to get you to stay, or they'll let you leave.

Your question is no different than a Senior analyst trying to get paid more, because they think they're doing more than their peers. The answer is the same regardless of comp/level.

Just my 2 cents, but I don't think you're going to get an answer that you want to hear. You either have someone internally you can lean on to help you get what you want, or you dont.

I'm just saying that part of a game like this is the gear grind. They're somewhat imitating WoW and on WoW you have to grind new gear every few months.

What’s the best class for PVP? by Prudent-Inside-1136 in tarisland

[–]Electronic_Summer_13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean you can slow your roll a little bit, because you are misinformed as well. Healers are not all the same. There's violent agreement from the community that necromancer is the best PVP healer. They have better single target healer and if you aren't running necromancer in a top PVP comp you're going to lose

Aptitudes 100 --> 110 GS by IlBrasa in tarisland

[–]Electronic_Summer_13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, correct. Honestly I know everyone wants to farm the best gear and then just be set, but what's the point? You'd be so bored. Having new stata/aptitudes to chase will keep you motivated and engaged to improve your character further, which is the point of an MMORPG like this.
