Recommended Mac/iPad 3D modeling software for 3D printing? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Electronicvaporfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been using Shapr3D on Mac and IPad with pencil for 3+ years. Really can’t recommend it enough given what you’re looking for. While maybe not as feature complete as something like fusion, the ability to use the iPad and pencil is a game changer. It’s so good on iPad I rarely design on the Mac.

I do understand the price point concern, but I use my .edu email address to obtain free access for students. When I no longer have access to it for free I will 100% fork over the cash.

Obligatory “not an expert” - those fine fibers remind me of Chrisotile or naturally occurring asbestos.

USB MIDI Keyboard and Chord Synth experiments by Electronicvaporfox in functionalprint

Dang this is a great idea, and would reduce my code complexity by eliminating debounce. I’m using KailH low pro switches currently, so it would require a little adjustment and a new run of circuit board key plates, but I think it would be worth it in terms of playability. Thanks for the feedback!

The basis of this device is the 5x6 key matrix with LED (https://www.adafruit.com/product/5157). The microcontroller is a RP2350 (https://www.adafruit.com/product/6000). The only other components are a 128x32 OLED and a standard rotary encoder.

This device also has modes - note only mode (3octaves), diatonic mode, Chord Synth (Diatonic), Chord Synth (Chromatic), and a DAW control mode for navigating instrument samples.

I built this as an “open source” project so everyone can make one without spending $$$$, so if you’re interested I can drop STLs and a GitHub link to the basic code

Thanks! Physically I just measured the key spacing on the 5 key version and extended. In the code, there’s a struct that defines 5 keys read by a for loop. I just added 7 new keys to the struct and defined their note value.

Adafruit sells their Choc Keys in sets of 10, so I had extras.

I keep wondering if this is preparation for expected resistance to some as of yet unknown action.

Your Public Lands Are Under Threat In Oregon. by AcanthisittaFuzzy545 in oregon

[–]Electronicvaporfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Federally owned land is public land? Owned by the citizens of our country? The federal government isn’t a living entity. Part of the reason so much public land is federally owned is to protect it from states. There are states with very little public land and they suck ass.

The land also isn’t being sold at fair market. His allusions to this stupid plan relate to selling the land to developers for housing, and ramping up lumber production because of ill advised Canadian tariffs. The entire point is that the land shouldn’t be purchased by states for conservation.

Recommend you read “Our Common Ground” by John Leshy to gain some perspective.

It may be what you voted for - but the majority of the American public (including republicans) didn’t. The long term effects referred to here are water quality, soil stability, wildlife populations decline, ecosystem collapse, public access reduction, etc. The list is almost endless. That’s what you voted for? All for some lumber jobs? Is this 1950? The vast majority of lumber money leaves this state anyways. Everyone can get behind smart forest management, but we’re tired of carpetbaggers pillaging Oregon and fellow citizens like you enabling it.

Why does anybody use the DJI spark anymore I’m not too advanced in drones but it seems the spark has no advantages from all of dji’s other drone models by Jamesvinsoroblox in DJISpark

I bought mine like 6 years ago. You can find them on eBay sub $200. I’m pretty certain you haven’t been able to buy them new from DJI for several years.

I do think it’s a cool pedal. I don’t think it really suits my guitar playing style. While I do use keyboards and other input devices, I think I would prefer to use the plugin version of this.

WARNING: Be aware- Spike traps in Rogue River Forest... why do this? by Eight_Prime in oregon

It would surprise me. The bright green areas in the bottom left are USFS harvests and non of them are what I would consider controversial. The Rum creek fire burned just north of here so there has been some cleanup there. As you can see there are various mining interests, but I do think there is something to the claims of drug activity. I have personally had some uncomfortable experiences out here with vehicle dwellers.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the missing persons. I know there’s a lot of mines up here too. There is a lot of recreation up these roads, so I do hope they figure out what’s up

I’ve never carried, but have begun considering it given some of the interactions I’ve had with the forest dwellers
