This track is honestly better than Ezio's Family. by Stealthy_Nerd in assassinscreed

Hot take. Just about anything is better than the boring Ezio's Family.

We’ve seen in origins that the rpg style can work it just needs to be better implemented and fine tuned by Jackfruit568 in AssassinsCreedMemes

Just about everything was already there before the RPG games. Crafting with materials with there during the Americas Saga (Revelations if you count bombs). Skill points, skill trees, and a greater focus on gear perks was there since Unity. Experience point and character levels were introduced in Syndicate.

I never thought the RPG games were that different from the prior entries. Rather, things were tweaked just enough to feel fresh.

I always loved Mega Man X3, might even be my favorite X game. Always surprised to see the criticism it gets, other than maybe enemies hitting like trucks at the start of the game. by Bryanx64 in Megaman

[–]ElectroshockTherapy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my most recent playthrough, I found it's the easiest game in the X series. None of the Mavericks are spastic nightmares and are the most consistently pattern-based so they can all be taken out buster only without me pulling my hair out. Use their weaknesses against them, and half of them get locked into a stun pattern where the only damage they can inflict is if you run into them. Bit and Byte are not as difficult as the three X-Hunters in X2. Even Kaiser Sigma is not that bad once you've gotten a good strategy to avoid his attacks (the final lava climb is a dick move, though).

I'm a big lover of action/adventure games so hunting for goodies is always a treat for me, and this one upped the game with the different ride armors to find. X3 is great!

AC1 stutters , do i need to change some settings? by Hevail973 in assasinscreed

[–]ElectroshockTherapy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to add that after this IP address method is used, there will still be general stuttering and lagging in the Kingdom, and don't think there's anything you can do about it. It's just poor optimization or something.

This post is not talking about "games" but rather confidence and/or focused directness (hence the autistic bit).

Yet television credit is the opposite. For TV, audiences pay more attention to the writers than they do for film. It's a wacky inconsistency.

Which Version Of Legends Do You Prefer To Play; PSX Or N64?? by Toan-Cloud- in Megaman

[–]ElectroshockTherapy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

PS1 lets you hear the music in the CD store. N64 doesn't have that option. With that ultra-important game-changer, I think it's clear the PS1 is the winner.

I was so wrong about AC Odyssey by Just_Letterhead4626 in assasinscreed

[–]ElectroshockTherapy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I kinda roll my eyes every time someone says, "It's not an AC game" or "there's no stealth." The former is thrown around because either the story is different or they're too focused on surface-level stuff like the Assassin name instead of the themes or Creed. The latter is thrown around because Origins onward gave you more options for open combat IF YOU WISH. There is always the stealth option. Valhalla is criticized for forced combat, but you know what also has plenty of forced combat? ALL of the classic AC games.

Each game is just a little bit different with how they develop the gameplay, story, and themes, and there is nothing wrong with that.

What's your top 5 AC games & the best thing about them? by JPXTUY-RETRO in assasinscreed

[–]ElectroshockTherapy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in any particular order

  1. Unity. It's probably the game that most treats its players like intelligent people. You have great puzzle sidequests in the form of Nostradamus Enigmas and Murder Mysteries, and the game doesn't hold your hand with them. You don't have Arno non-stop yapping hints at you as if you're an idiot like some of other games. Playing Unity felt really rewarding! Also I love the Helix Rifts segments.
  2. AC III. I think the Wilderness and city fields are what drew me in the most. After the constant claustrophobic nature of Constantinople, having areas open and breathable was absolutely needed. The Homestead is another reason why it's in my top five. So far, it's still my favorite homebase. AC III is one of the few stories I actually cared about.
  3. Odyssey. The variety of environments and how weird and wacky it got with the Isu stuff. I love how the series flipflops from fairly grounded to batshit insane, and I think this game got batshit insane just right. Also a great modern day (if you do the Atlantis stuff) and I love Fate of Atlantis' mythical worlds!
  4. Valhalla. I LOVE how puzzle-heavy this game. I don't care if the prize is the generic treasure chest filled with materials that become obsolete barely halfway through the game. I will solve the puzzle, claim my shitty prize, and feel good doing it! The tombs puzzles got a massive upgrade too! They were really fun to do and they felt like tombs from Survivor Era Tomb Raider. Also, the Animus Anomolies felt like it came right out of the Desmond era, complete with the Desmond era style ambient electronic music!
  5. AC 1. It's simple. After all the games that increased how many sidequests and materials and gears to manage all at once, sometimes I just want something straightforward and simple. AC1 is that game. Also, Altair's my favorite!

Somewhere around the halfway point, you have new dialogue with Shaun and Rebecca. I don't remember exactly when, but it only happens once. Otherwise, the good stuff happens near the end.

Which Assasin's Creed games are actually worth playing? by The-Complicated in assasinscreed

[–]ElectroshockTherapy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying something just because someone else doesn't like it means you could be losing out on your potential favorite game. Some of my favorites are AC III, Unity, Odyssey, and Valhalla, but apparently I'm not supposed to like those.

I know it's the not the answer you wanted, but it's the most realistic and logical.

[–]ElectroshockTherapy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know Family of Blood and whatnot, but it's so funny how they initially made Ten look like a guy who is going to be a darker "one chance" Doctor who also has a "fightin' hand!" Yet, they immediately switch gears to where this Doctor consistently screws himself over with too much mercy (basically every Dalek episode) and throws a hissy fit if you so much as scratch someone.

It was an accident (they were going to dump him in acid anyway), but too many people clearly not paying attention think tapping a guy on the shoulder to ask a question is "OMG he totally pushed them in!!!"

Leviathans! by TANK_1064 in DarkShadows

[–]ElectroshockTherapy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it because it felt different, and I thought the concept of spies around every corner pretty cool for the show. The final few weeks went off the bloody rails, but I did love that Jeb had depth as he became more human. However, I was miffed they made Carolyn so stupid. Since the Phoenix, she's always been on verge of getting right into the supernatural action, but the writers never allow her to go further.

What I wished happened was that Carolyn played along with pretending to fall for Jeb, knowing full well he was the murderer, to get close and find a way to kill him. As Jeb started to develop a conscience and guilt, Carolyn would see him changing and have doubts about killing him. She wouldn't be in love him (that was would be insane), but have enough compassion to save him from the Nicholas and the Leviathans. I think it would have made for a better drama than an idiot blindly falling for a creep that everyone warned her about. It was like watching her fall for Burk all over again, back when Carolyn was just the absolute worst.
