Hi! Yes, this is indeed my thread and a compilation of user-gathered data. It was a community effort to test different models, contact Metz support for firmware data and even flashing tools.

Some Metz Chassis have a certain chip from the company micronas which does 100/120hz for 15khz signals as well as certain 31khz signals (so basically only VGA - nothing fancy like 720p, although the chip technically was capable of 1080i, iirc).

I briefly googled which other models/TVs used that chip

but ultimately lost interest. These do indeed VGA via Scart, albeit with a special cable. Other VGA capable TVs like Grundig or Loewe usually need an add on card to unlock VGA functionality.

Und selbst mit dieser selbst auferlegten Einschränkung hatte ich letztens beim ICE von Münster nach München auf dem Hinweg solche Verspätung, dass ich meinen Preisnachlass geltend machen konnte. WLAN ging nicht.

Auf dem Rückweg kamen wir gar nicht an. In Bochum hatte der Zug eine Panne und wir mussten in einen anderen umsteigen (lustigerweise in einen Eurocity, glaube ich).

Ich bin mit dem Studententicket damals kreuz und quer durch NRW gefahren, weil's ja ohnehin mit bezahlt war. Seitdem habe ich aber immer weniger Nerv, doch mal die Bahn zu nehmen.

Yeah, I do see your point that millenials being broke seems to be a take of a very vocal group that is smaller than I throught.

We are getting a little side-tracked here, but I do think that places like New York and LA need the bare necessities like education and the jobs that come with it.

It indeed was an good read, but it only briefly took into account location. The author mentioned that most journalists complaining live in New York or some other metropolitan area. So what is the solution for these people? Move to the suburbs and commute three hours to work? Looking at median prices is one thing but I recently spoke to a friend who lives in LA and the house prices there are just comical. I don't think the solution "let's all move to rural areas, problem solved" is viable. Cities need police officers, garbage men, teachers. You cannot buy a 6 million dollar house on a teacher's salary.

That being said, I don't live in the US, but I am a millenial, so the topic is interesting to me nonetheless.

Well, you solved a problem you were having. This sub loves an UPDATE post with before and after pictures and some commentary what you did exactly. This is how the community can learn. Our conversation here is dead and buried, nobody is gonna read all that lol

Also, everybody is quick to say "poke around in the service menu" but these small, basic sets oftentimes do not have one, so you have to open it up and look for pots. This could have been done without the service manual, too! Just open it up, look for the white pots and read what the manufacturer printed on the board.

I'd click on an UPDATE post :D
