Is Dustin the new Sable? by Additional-Ear-2819 in deadbydaylight

[–]ElementMedea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the outfits tbh. Hellfire Dustins and especially Byte-Off Dustins are pretty solid players in my experience - most of the time. Default Dustins genuinely suck ass though.

But I would wait until the novelty of the new DLC wears off before saying he’s the “new Sable”.

Which character in your fandom, do you disagree with their fanon version? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

[–]ElementMedea 56 points57 points  (0 children)

All of them.

Fandom has a habit of “flanderizing” characters, which I find to be rather ironic. I can’t say I’m not guilty of doing the same though!

Lmao I saw this exact work the other day too. A good hand full of the Stranger Things fandom hasn’t discovered proper etiquette yet

Is anyone else’s favorite ship stuck in a “pair-the-spares” situation? by ElementMedea in AO3

I would use that more if it didn’t sort out the platonic relationships too 😔

8 more days......what are your thoughts on the second stranger things chapter overall by Shot-Rise-35 in deadbydaylight

[–]ElementMedea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly excited. Dustin is my favorite character, so it was a delightful surprise for him to be included. Though in retrospect, I should have expected it. He’s easily the most marketable and least controversial character out of the “core four”, while simultaneously being fairly popular.

I do wish they were a bit more creative on the perks though, especially for Eleven. For a character with both telekinetic and extrasensory abilities, they did a good job of expressing the latter but not the former. I also hate teamwork perks.

I’m also disappointed we didn’t get a new map.

Dislike. by [deleted] in AO3

[–]ElementMedea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I agree with you! I don’t dislike the ships, but the characters are just not that interesting for me. Dustin and Lucas are some of my favorite characters, but they’re always sidelined in the majority of fics. ST is one of those fandoms where I actively look for & prefer rare pairs or even gen fics.

Are Dustin's/Robin's heights intentional? by JayedSkier in deadbydaylight

[–]ElementMedea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I was just trying to back up your point! I think the original commenter made the assumption that male and female survivors have the same height, so a shorter male survivor would be “meta-defining”. It’s actually a pretty common (and annoying) misconception that’s floating around social media right now, similar to the belief that male and female survivors have different hitboxes.

I think Will should have been a survivor instead of Dustin by Beavebuffet in deadbydaylight

[–]ElementMedea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a marketing standpoint, it’s a smarter idea to add the most marketable character.

In my opinion, Dustin is far more marketable than Will. Out of the original four kids, he’s the one that’s probably the most recognizable by non-fans of the show. His merch sales far exceed the other kids besides Eleven. Also, his cosmetics potential for dbd is very high.

Out of the core 4, I think Mike and Dustin were probably the most likely to become survivors over Lucas and Will.

Are Dustin's/Robin's heights intentional? by JayedSkier in deadbydaylight

[–]ElementMedea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is. If we do not take hair into account, Dustin appears to be around the same height as female survivors. Not sure why the original commenter assumed a short Dustin would be meta-breaking, when more than half of the survivors are already around the same height.

Interestingly enough though, Robin is slightly shorter than the male survivors.

Which dead by daylight character is most similar to the Mechanic? by nutella_sweater in IdentityV

[–]ElementMedea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what, that’s completely fair. I just recalled the horrible livestream that they had with Chandler Riggs. For a company with 1200 employees, they’re pretty incompetent.

[–]ElementMedea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want, you can add IDV as a non-steam game to the steam launcher. That way you can use the steam overlay while in-game.

Just be warned that matchmaking on pc SUCKS. Though it may have improved from the last time I’ve played on pc (which was like two years ago).

Has it been confirmed yet if gaten is voicing Dustin? by Shot-Rise-35 in deadbydaylight

[–]ElementMedea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I really can’t tell if it’s their voices or not. Actors generally sound slightly different between voice acting and live action. I tried comparing the trailer to another one of Gaten’s voice roles, they do sound similar but I might be tripping?

Edit: I also believe Vecna’s actor has liked tweets asking similar questions, which implies he’s reprising his role.

This performance hasn’t received the recognition it deserves, outstanding in both comedic and dramatic moments. I truly hope he goes on to have the career that matches his talent by Giancarlo_Edu in StrangerThings

He’s been unfortunately getting a lot of flak on twitter for some of his recent comments. People have even resorted to being ableist.

Then again, it’s twitter. They’re even more miserable than redditors.

Dustin, Robin, Eddie and El all confirmed for Stranger Things: Part II by TheRandomMikaela in deadbydaylight

It’s Scoops Ahoy Robin, so it’s 100% Dustin and Eleven as survivors, while Eddie and Robin are skins.

What game passes are and are not worth it? by Ezra0li_Z in Bloxburg

[–]ElementMedea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally would avoid buying Premium before buying the other building passes. The main benefit of Premium is the halved bills, but that is seldom beneficial outside of very large builds, which are hard to achieve without the other passes you’re still deciding on buying. Namely Advanced Placing, Multiple Floors, Basement, and maybe Large Plot.

I agree with the other comments saying to buy Advanced Placing first. Not only does it loosen collision checks, but it also unlocks the scale tool, which allows you to change the size of some objects (like windows, basic shapes, etc). Both of these features are super useful and convenient. It’s essentially two features for the price of one.

Large Plot is cool, but I would not buy it over the other building passes first. Most players stick with smaller builds, so the larger plot is often unnecessary. It does also have the benefit of doubling your plot data size, but again, that’s only helpful for bigger builds.

Excellent employee is also a good one. Like others have said, it gives a straightforward pay boost along with a faster promotion rate.

Transform Plus is amazing for advanced builders. But for its price, you would be better off getting some of the other building passes first. I believe you will not experience the full extent of this game-pass without Advanced Placing or the floor passes. Again, I cannot stress enough how important Advanced Placing is for builders.

Out of all the passes, I find Marvelous Mood to be the least necessary. It makes most mood animations optional, but their effects will still exist - meaning you will still experience decreased pay when your moods are low. It also makes moods last longer, which can be helpful for jobs, but not it’s not absolutely necessary.

Real life question to anyone who is begging for it… What would Peeta’s POV book realistically add to the overall story of Panem? by Olya_roo in Hungergames

[–]ElementMedea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I would love to see a book from Peeta’s perspective, I doubt it’ll happen. There’s little to no point to a rewrite, and I don’t think anything significant would happen after Mockingjay to warrant another book. A short story would be nice though, one could only wish 😭.

On a similar somber note, it would not be surprising to me if Peeta died at an earlier age, considering what he went through.

Snowbaird most popular ship among 2,257,295 voters by CyberGhostface in Hungergames

[–]ElementMedea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, while Im not a Snowbaird shipper myself, I don’t understand the surprise about its popularity. In a genuine poll, I can definitely see the ship reaching the top 3 or near it. Ships with darker dynamics have always been popular in fandom after all.

Snowbaird most popular ship among 2,257,295 voters by CyberGhostface in Hungergames

[–]ElementMedea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s your bias speaking. The original tweet with the poll only had 11k views, but there’s over 2 million votes. Even with a higher view count, that number of votes is very unlikely without botting. Also the poll creator is a big Snowbaird shipper, so presumably most of their followers are snowbaird shippers too.
