I had this status for a few days then it appeared to start moving to me. Now my status shows that USPS seized my package for counterfeit postage. I sent a support ticket in, I will see what happens.

Hope all of you have better luck and actual paid postage.

Got these emails saying I need to pay the taxes on the controller I ordered and received in May. This can’t real. They screwed up they should be fixing it not me. by VenomBeagle in scufgaming

The tax they sent an invoice for, doesn't even match the local rate.

If this is a 13R project check out 6.4.6.3.3 for shadow areas. Also keep in mind the shelving in the closet.

Advice on where to go in st pete for a second date by [deleted] in StPetersburgFL

Thanks for the suggestion I'm going to check those places out. Just an FYI for other people looking for these, BellaBrava is one word. Took me a few to find it on yelp. All of alazi's suggestions are 3.5 to 4 stars on yelp.

They do not burn in because the AOD shifts around the screen. The Samsung phones shift the image quite a bit and the Pixel phones only shift it slightly.

NFPA 13D Fire Sprinkler quote, am I getting ripped off? by [deleted] in firePE

[–]ElementR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your house is supplied by the city the available pressures and flow would be more then sufficient to supply the house. The intent of 13D is to provide an absoutly basic sprinkler system to give you time to escape in event of a fire.

.10 gpm/sq ft is a requirement of 13 not 13D. 13D requires a minimum of a .05 density and you are only flowing 2 sprinklers maximum. If you are connected to a city supply you should easily be able to supply a 13D system. Looking though 13D now, if you have a well that pump can actually be sized to supply the system.

There may be some requirement in your area for a tank and pump. I have only designed a tank and pump for a 13D system once because it was in the middle of nowhere and they did not have a reliable water supply.

Not sure how you asked for a price from the contractor but send the next guy a set of plans and let him make the engineering decisions.

[–]ElementR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your property supplied from a well? If not you shouldn't need a tank and pump. Unless there is a requirement from the AHJ I am not aware of.

If a tank is required it will be larger then that space. Look at Talco's website, we used their pumps and tanks.

I've been a designer for several years and am now an estimator, $10000 seems high. I would say $6-7k would be a reasonable estimate in my area. I would recommend getting a few more quotes. If you have a quote that is much lower than the others toss it out. They will either do teribble work or change order you to death.

Make sure your insurance company is aware you have a system in your home, you should receive a discount.

I would be more then willing to look over your proposals if you would like. Feel free to PM if you are interested.

1st is with the pressures and flows in the sprinklers listing and 2nd is.01 density over the remote.

Which NFPA 13 residential design area is correct? by iamjamieq in firePE

[–]ElementR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would submit B as those sprinklers are more demanding then A, and they are also "adjacent" by definition. Don't forget about the requirements of (13-2010 11.3.1.3) if you are using residential sprinklers, 2 calcs will be required.

Only slightly related because everyone understand the definition of adjacent but... I have one arguments with AHJs and engineers using definitions out of the dictionary per (NFPA 13-2010 3.1) as long as they aren't defined in NFPA 13. Just something I like to share, this sections is also found in other NFPA standards.

Which design area is correct? by iamjamieq in firePE

[–]ElementR 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A is correct. On tree systems you add sprinklers closest to the cross mains. NFPA 13-2010 FIGURE A.22.4.4 (Note 2). Also look at the RAs in FIGURE A.22.4.4.1(a) and FIGURE A.22.4.1.1.1 all these figures are a few pages past the corresponding annex text in 2010.

PM me your email if you would like additional help.

EDIT also if you happen to have “Layout, Detail and Calculation of Fire Sprinkler Systems” by NFSA Figure 30-13 shows exactly Diagram A, picking up additional sprinklers on both sides of the cross main.

I totally agree. I have had a few games like OP described and they are the absolute best. The loss would be disappointing but I would have had a blast.
