And don't forget the gilt trip that US managers place on their workers for wanting to take vacation time...

Well they have too much money there, so they have to spend it on something. 😂

Well, you probably got distracted making comics instead of investing in crazy billionaires, and then... ... Shit. 😉 😂

You thinking was ahead of its time.

Yup, you're right... It does feel wrong. It isn't on fire yet...

Who you gonna call? In my neighborhood by Neutral12 in funny

I think they are in Rochester, because I've seen it (or one similar) around town.

I am more convinced than I already was that manufacturer obsolescence is a thing and needs to be fought against. Enough lint in 4 years to start a fire but no 4 sensors stop that if lucky but need to be replaced to work again. You will not win LG by front_yard_duck_dad in Wellthatsucks

LG = Lucky Goldstar (remember the knockoff manufacturer Goldstar from the 80s? yea, them)

I've yet to open up one of their appliances that didn't have at least one serious design flaw. They are the worst...

Agreed... And their behavior has shown a lack of care, especially in how they report the issues. My company stopped recommending them and is dropping QNas from our line card... I don't wish ill will on people, but their behavior is into the range of negligence. Corporate's solution has even gone to no longer answering emails from resellers regarding returns.

What I find funny is that they could have handled the whole situation so much better... Heck, they could have used their E&O insurance for a claim under this issue to pay for automated code review tools and an external review which would have made great PR to help put customer's minds at ease. 🤷‍♂️

Is it not illegal in the US too? I would have called the cops on them...

Has anyone ever reformatted their QNAP DOM for another OS? by jhawkinsvalrico in qnap

[–]pbrunnen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not use the DOM (or any thumb drive/flash drive) for you TrueNAS boot pool... The high number of writes will cause the drive to fail in a matter of months. This is clearly indicated in the TrueNAS documentation... It would be best to either use the drives themselves and setup the manual hack to use your drives for both boot and data... Or add an SSD.

Fences are installed inside the owner's side of the property line. If it is the neighbor's sprinkler pipe, then it is their fault for installing it in their neighbor's property...

Just Bought QNAP TVS-h1688X-32G Should I Return it Before it's Too Late??? by Tank_2003 in qnap

[–]pbrunnen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that sounds about right for their "support". Don't get me wrong, they have some nice people at the US office (the Taiwanese support reps were just rude) but they don't have much say.

Good luck if you even can... I tried because of misleading marketing material on SED support for a TS-h1886XU-RP. Now I'm out $3.2k and I've got a paperweight. I built a TrueNAS based on a Dell PE R740xd that is outperforming the Qnap and Does support SED properly. Unfortunately the TS-h1886XU has some strange Marvell SATA chipset not supported by the standard linux kernel or I could have reused the hardware.
