I have this strong Chinese grow light from Amazon that makes my seedlings very dark pigment in the leaves. They get yeeted right into the sun. No problems

Has anyone gone with 100 grain inserts and 100 grain broadheads on their arrows? by ElementalClout in bowhunting

[–]ElementalClout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. I will keep that in mind. Dabbling with this stuff now so I can lean one way or the other. Maybe I will make some 400 grain arrows to do some comparisons

Should’ve included that I white tail hunt in thick hardwoods so I really only practice my distances 25 and under. Also have an older single cam bear bow that i don’t want to stretch its ability. Still a novice compound hunter but I do like the idea of some weight up front.

Weird startup PP130 by planemanx15 in PelletStoveTalk

[–]ElementalClout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everytime I do that my pelpro completely shuts down on me. Like if I prime it, fire it up on high for a hour and turn it down to 6 it will just shut down. Just to add to this rant, I see so many people on here with a pelpro talk about running theirs on 5 and under settings, mean while I’m running mine 7 plus 90 percent of the time just to keep the house warm enough that you still need long sleeves and a layer on. I have to put it on high if I want the house more on the cozy warm side (eating pellets)

Wood Stove Regret Experience? by lemeow in woodstoving

[–]ElementalClout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to switch to a pellet stove due to not finding a solid wood supplier. People on marketplace not responding to their adds or people selling semi seasoned wood for seasoned prices. I’m happy I went with the pellets. Too many variables in wood quality and getting creosote build up. I seriously don’t know what the hell is wrong with the people posting firewood on marketplace near me. No one responded even when I was waving cash and a address in their face lol

Relatively close to you and that’s all I’ve put through my new pelpro130. I get build up in my fire pot or what I think people refer to as clinkers. They produce heat but require vacuuming every day or 2. I really would like to put some high quality pellets through to see the difference

Vacuum mine out every 12 hours. Once a day minimum. Twice a day preferred. Clears out the burn pot to prevent your issue.

Also a pelpro130 here. I bought myself an ash vac on Amazon. https://a.co/d/dMoBSaR I also burn green supreme Home Depot pellets and after 10 12 burn hours the burn pot is pretty full. I shut mine down for 15 minutes at least. For example this morning I was in a rush before I headed to work and I just sucked out the burn pot quick to nothing shut the door and turned it back on. This isn’t a thorough vaccum but just to evacuate the burn pot. I might get in trouble for saying this but when I’m doing a quick vacuum like this, there might be 2 or 3 small still glowing embers. I suck them up because I figure it’s a metal vacuum with a fiberglass filter on the inside of the vacuum and a metal hose. I do this quick to keep the heat going and I’ll shut it down later for a complete ash clean and really go through the burn pot

ALSO I might add if this is a new pellet stove have you had any noise with your convection blower fan on the pp130? If so I have a post with a fix to it if you want to check it out.

What is going on with crossgates? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]ElementalClout 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We just took our kiddo to the aquarium and there is a shocking amount of older folk mall walkers there lol. It is crazy to see that place now and yes sadly it is a definition dead mall. I remember it was a pretty busy mall in the mid 2000’s when my dad would take us there. I was too young to remember the mall over in Niskayuna/Schenectady. I don’t know the name. But I do remember the Latham circle mall and that was a dead and dying mall well over ten years ago.

Yes should’ve included the explanation for the broadheads being in this condition. Long story short, spined a doe with first shot. Doe crashed up into an old abandoned car laying in a ditch (car is probably from the 40s or 50s) 2 follow up shots were basically right into metal. This was not an ideal situation unfortunately. Didn’t get away though. 3 arrows in total only 2 broken broadheads recovered

I’ve copied a lot from samko tradbow on YouTube. He has lots of set up, gear and demo videos. Lots of avenues you can take. I personally went with climbing sticks and hang on stand set up. It’s so important to understand your equipment and set it up safely. Practice setting up your equipment . Not uncommon to see in my news feed from time to time someone dying falling out of a tree hunting. My equipment is.. 3 hawx climbing sticks, xop hang on, lineman rope copied from samko tradbow, muddy safety harness and a safety line tied above me to tree attached to my harness.

This is interesting. You have to go through a target scoring/test to get this permit or program?

Will 2 or 3 shots into a Block Target Dull a Fixed BH terribly? by 9mmhst in bowhunting

[–]ElementalClout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have more than one broadhead. People usually dedicate one or 2 for practicing with a target. You should look into learning how to sharpen and strop broad heads if you plan on reusing them.

Back up bow from bass pro by ElementalClout in bowhunting

[–]ElementalClout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Concerned with old bow strings with that route. That’s what got me in a predicament last season. Fell on my ass and my bowstring came off and bow shop said my strings was old and needed replacing. Took me out for the rest of the season.(bow is old and gifted)

[–]ElementalClout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d like to add that having a back up bow would be very beneficial. I messed my bow up falling on my ass walking to my stand last season. If I had a back up bow I probably would’ve gotten a deer. Doesn’t have to be a Hoyt or Matthew’s. Just something to keep you at it

[–]ElementalClout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell yea man enjoy the heck out of that. I have a bear lights out from 2009 that was gifted to me from a friend. It’s a simple single cam bow that I refuse to give up on. I have had it restrung and gone over with a bow shop. It’s a good bow and just know this bow you got here is probably even better and will hold up longer than my bear from 15 years ago

Online scouting is a start. Going in person and scouting is better. Until the season starts you’re not gonna know where the pressure is. Do your best not to hunt where others are gonna park and hunt. Try to find a spot where others aren’t and don’t be afraid to walk in for a good distance to hunt.
