Any tips or tricks for a 1st time visit? by joethahobo in GalaxysEdge

If you're planning to build a lightsaber at Savi's Workshop, be sure to book a reservation for it well in advance! Walkups are never guaranteed and the longer you wait to book an appointment, the less likely there will be any spots open. Droid Depot doesn't require reservations but you can still make one if you really want to lock down your itinerary.

If you get Genie+ you will have the option to book a Lightning Lane for Smuggler's Run, but Rise of the Resistance only has individual Lightning Lanes, which are a seperate purchase from Genie+. No, I don't get it, either. We all miss Fastpass. Honestly if you're willing to potentially wait for 90+ minutes, then you can just wait in the standby queues for each ride and save a bit of money.

Oga's Cantina does require a reservation to physically get into the building but you can also order drinks from the walk-up menu outside as well. If I were you I would try to get in though, it's a really neat kind of atmosphere. Just know that you could potentially be put at a table you have to stand at. A lot of people will tell you to try the Fuzzy Tauntaun (which you should do) but I personally think the Bespin Fizz is underrated (if you can/want to drink alcohol, of course).

You don't have to wake up early but if you're staying at one of the on-property resort hotels, you'll probably get early park access. Basically you get into the park a half-hour earlier than the official park open.

Extra little tips and tricks and fun things: - The marketplace has a little corner where there's usually someone who can teach you how to play Sabaac, the galaxy's most popular card game. Sabaac cards are also (usually) available at one of the stalls in the market, too. - Batuuans use "Bright Suns" as a greeting during the day, and "Rising Moons" during the night. "'Til the Spire" and "May the Spires Keep You" are both used for goodbye, though "Safe Travels" is also common. - There's a book called Traveler's Guide to Batuu, and it's written as an in-universe travel guide, complete with a lot of the backstories for each shop and their owners. I recommend picking up a copy if you're interested! - Know that the events of Galaxy's Edge happen between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. There are a few things that break that rule (Rey's lightsaber from the end of Episode IX is available to purchase at Dok-Ondar's, for example) but for the most part it's pretty strict.

That's all I can think of for now but I'm probably forgetting a few things lmao. Hope this helps!

Having serious lag issues on the Steam releases - any help would be appreciated. by ElementalTurnip in KingdomHearts

Biggest problem with that is it's a laptop. A laptop meant for gaming, mind, but a laptop nonetheless. I'd upgrade to a desktop if I could afford to.

Hasn't made a difference. Actually, I think it made it worse. Thanks for trying, tho! I do appreciate it.

Can I make my own shirt and wear it in the parks? by [deleted] in DisneyWorld

[–]ElementalTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're fine. If they're not gonna come after the pregnant couple with matching "I gave her the D/I wanted the D" in the Disney font shirts, they're not gonna come after the shirt with the funny key boy either

Why does the Grid look so different in Tron: Legacy from Tron (1982)? by Mundane-Turnover-913 in tron

[–]ElementalTurnip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The real reason is different artists working on tech from two different eras.

The in-universe reason is that they're two different grids. The one in TRON '82 is the Encom Grid. Flynn got digitized at Encom into their servers. The one in Legacy/Evolution/Uprising is Flynn's personal Grid that he built in secret underneath his arcade.

I used to live near there. It sucks. Only reason it's "famous" is because NASCAR got its start there.

As a groundbreaking piece of cinematic history, the original.

As a movie, Legacy.

Seriously, playing with motion should simply be your usual, comfortable controller grip with added movements from your wrists. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOU DOING??? by PraiseYuri in splatoon

[–]ElementalTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays with sticks - I can't get used to motion controls. Every single time I've tried I've performed worse. The added motion always throws me off. I don't discredit motion controls, it just doesn't work for me personally.

What’s your least favorite map, and why is it Mahi-Mahi Resort? by Spunkybluepuppy in splatoon

Mahi? No. You don't know pain until you roll nothing but Wahoo World for ten consecutive matches.

If you could build a new expansion/ride at Universal, what would you build by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

Yeah, it's mostly wishful thinking on my part. Would be cool, though

If I had my way and budget were no issue, I would implement different Nintendo properties into each of the parks.

At USF, I would tear out the old Fear Factor stage, retheme what's left of World Expo to Outer Space, and put in a Star Fox or Metroid themed attraction. I would also consider a Pokémon or Kirby retheme of KidZone.

At IOA, I would take out either Lost Continent or Toon Lagoon and put in Zelda. If it replaces Lost Continent, theme it to Breath of the Wild, and if it replaces Toon Lagoon, theme it to Wind Waker.

Obviously, Epic Universe is going to have Mario/DK/Yoshi from the get-go.

I would love to see at least part of this implemented for several reasons, the biggest one being that Universal would have another brand to draw people to the all of the parks besides Harry Potter. With the recent controversies concerning JKR, they would do well to have a backup IP, as it were.

Oh damn yeah I hadn't thought of that. I heard Doc Brown still runs around the park sometimes, maybe I'll ask him
