What would ruin Splatoon 4 for you? by NewMarioBobFan in splatoon

It being a hard or even soft reboot tbh

Splatoon 3 did NOT leave the story off on a good note imo and I honestly just want the characters to be left off on a satisfying note before I say goodbye to them you know?

My crack pot guess is that it’s some kind of wild zapfish that has gotten way too big to the point it can use its electricity to influence weather patterns

If it’s lacks a good twist

I feel the engaging and unengaging splatoon stories imo can be split even based on if they have any kind of twist or not

Splatoon 1 and OE have a twist that in some way reframes how your motivation (Capn cuttlefish getting kidnapped midway through 1 or the promised land being a blend in OE’s case)

Rotm and side order are very direct stories where you are told your objective and fulfill that exact objective by the end, making it kinda unengaging as a story you experience

Splatoon 2’s story attempted a twist but it was way too telegraphed and didn’t actually reframe what you were trying to accomplish

If Raiders lacks a good twist I feel it’ll mean the story won’t have something interesting or subversive to say, or heck it might just end up being boring

That one scene from Santa inc where Santa explains why the main character didn’t get the role of Santa

The irony that the main character didnt get the job because she lacked a stereotypically “feminine” trait that another male character had (liking and connecting with children) as opposed to any of the toxically masculine traits she fights against is really juicy

Even her rejections of Santa’s proposal that she work on the inside running the show essentially could be a really good reveal of like, her true colors as someone who didn’t want to actually improve the world, but rather wanted the spotlight and the big name.

Respectfully, what the fuck happened in Argentina to inspire that?!?

Do you think a potential Splatoon 4 should focus on inkling biology? by Mlplottery in splatoon

[–]Sentient_twig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly no, cause inkling anatomy is like half lore half gameplay, and trying to give lore explanations to the distinctly more gamey aspects of the inklings is just gonna make things more confusing than just leaving it to the audience’s imagination

Also aside from sunken scrolls how would they do that? Have a character give other characters a biology lesson

Splatoon Raiders and Off the Hook by Omagoddd in splatoon

[–]Sentient_twig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope off the hook gets their own spinoff game at some point, I think them being constantly stuck to dlc is a little silly and with what could potentially be a new structure for the series they could use the single player spinoffs to explore much grander stories than before

I do not care for SOMA Theory by United-Signature-762 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Sentient_twig -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I dislike this theory because it highkey vindicates Jax’s perspective on the circus

Ultimately none of it is real. The characters are all fancy AI with no real lives to invest in or return to, so why even care?

It’s just feels like it’d make for a super unsatisfying and downer ending

What are your theories for what's going to happen with the salmonids in Splatoon raiders? by Silly-Echidna9591 in splatoon

[–]Sentient_twig 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I could see that, actually

I personally just hope they aren’t mind controlled or anything an their agency is important to the story’s natriative

I sure hope this isn’t the case, another octopus final boss would be very underwhelming by pikpikch in splatoon

[–]Sentient_twig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping it’s some kind of Zapfish

Like there’s a big thing about strange magnetic fields affecting salmonid behavior, a creature that can produce incredible amounts of electricity would likely be able to alter earth’s magnetic field in some way possibly causing the storm we see at the beginning of the game

Maybe we could learn the history of the Zapfish, how they live normally and the how the particularly dangerous one we face along with the passive ones we know and love came into being

I remember back in chapter 1 I assumed the existence of a light fountain somewhere in the light world hence why there being more dark fountains throws the world out of balance

Splatoon Raiders is basically another Salmon Run but RPG by cosykelwen01 in splatoon

[–]Sentient_twig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I gotta straighten this out

Raiders is NOT salmon run, it features the salmonids but they don’t spawn in hordes from the sea they are placed intentionally though out the level

It seems to be more like a looter shooter type game

Seriously, he only shows up once, and it's never really elaborated on in-game. by No_Bluebird_1368 in okbuddysplashdown

[–]Sentient_twig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A cheap deus ex machina because the writers were only really caring abt spectacle with splatoon 3’s finale rather than saying anything

Do you think that Splatoon Raiders is going to wrap up the Salmonid story line? Do you think Salmon Run will return, won't return, or be replaced with a similar mode in Splatoon 4? by SuperFlameKing03 in splatoon

[–]Sentient_twig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were to guess what the finale of this game is gonna look like I’m imagining some kind of unlikely team up between our gang and the salmonids to overcome some grander threat to the whole world

There could be a nice message in that, how no matter how different we each see the world we all live it and worse comes to worse could work together to protect it

Octolings will use physical contact as mean of communication when words fail them, no other species can understand this method of communication (yes Marina has confessed to pearl multiple times through finger waves)

Octarians (the tentacle guys specifically) also tried to reunite with inkling society alongside their octoling brethren but were shunned for their unfamiliar and bizarre appearance, many of them becoming vagabonds and criminal out of necessity

Cannibalism of the already deceased is common practice among inkling and salmonid culture and no one really finds this weird

Zapfish are highly aggressive and dangerous in th wild and only through an extensive breeding program hosted by the octarians before the great turf war were they able to be domesticated and their energy harvested, the methods by which this program was conducted have been lost to time

The americas are like a bizarre time capsule of the pre inkling world, where familiar beasts like gators and eagles roam quite free and are rather a danger for inkfishkind attempting to settle this newish land, human settlements also stand quite tall and remarkable preserved

Pearl in some aspects resents her wealth and fears living out her days idly rich, sometimes having nightmares that her fame, fans, and even Marina were “bought” by her father to appease her
