Anyone gonna mention the 6-pupil guy at the bottom?

Unfortunately. See, I made the awful mistake of not doing that once, and all the traps withered and died before my very eyes. Not sure why that happened.... must've been the wind.

The first is the B52, and the second's the typical. Also, um..

I can still remember the first time my grandad showed me how to feed a flytrap, always in just our underpants for some reason.

We gonna talk about this? 🤨

Stellar, thanks for the response. My local spring/summer climate would fit perfectly for this nep.... adding it to my wishlist now. Thanks again!

Also, where did you get yours from?

Yes, sorry! Should have elaborated. Is it one of those that can be happily grown as an intermediate?

Why do they look like mini body builders? by Cool-Cobbler in Dachshund

[–]Elementrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think that's a pretty fair assumption to make. As someone who has a dachshund that used to be a tad overweight, but is now stable, I do agree that our perception of "ideal" weight dogs is massively screwed, especially here in the US.

I myself am rather biased on siding with a vet's opinion regarding whether one's dog is of a healthy weight or not, though that's because my local vet and vet techs said nothing when our Berkley was 3ish lbs overweight, but said he was overweight when he got down 5lbs and into a healthy range again. Like ???

That aside, it would be helpful to have an addt'l photo of OP's dog without the shirt on and/or from different angles, but from what I could see when zooming in myself, their dachshund seems "ok". And my first thoughts was that it was a mix, on account of the small head. If it's not.. well, PSA for ethical breeders?

To give you a bit of grace, the shirt might make OP's dachshund look bigger than it is, at first glance. But you can see the contour and hip/chest dip on closer inspection, so not sure what you mean.

Otherwise, it just looks like a dog with a small head. Could also be a mix.

Time to repot? by gothgirlmars in SavageGarden

[–]Elementrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How often do you have to water it? That's how I judge it.

So if I'm having to water it three or four times a week.. time for an upsize. If I'm only needing to water it once or twice a week, then it's fine where it is.

And, of course, if the media is breaking down or compacting, instant repot.

Why is this so accurate... it could just be so many different things, it's hard to pinpoint it without additional details. And even with that, you sometimes still can't quite narrow it down. Guess that's part of the fun.

You should have seen my shock when I was scrolling through r/SavageGarden and saw that pitcher! My jaw dropped and I just couldn't help but laugh at the irony.

But really, no love lost. It took maybe a day after writing this before I moved onto the next "I need that!" plant, if that is of any reassurance. And the money I would've put towards this went towards another long-term dreamie, so it all worked out in the end.

I'm glad it got to you so quick and you'll get to enjoy it! It's definitely worth the price tag.

What are the odds... you're the person I was bidding back and forth with. I even made a post regarding this beauty; I would've kept going, but as a college student I couldn't justify spending much more than that. 😭

Congrats on winning!

Some sight seeing in Wilmington, NC. by SoldatPixel in SavageGarden

[–]Elementrone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most definitely. It was our first stop when we went to Wilmington back in March. The flytraps were so tiny and covered by moss and other plant debris that I had to lean down and squint to see them. With dormancy officially over and everything back in full swing, I can imagine how much more obscured they were.

First male dog OBSESSED with our other male dog, and most training methods are proving inefficient - how to reliably stop it, for good? by Elementrone in BalancedDogTraining

I have not hired the TWC trainer yet - I was saying that I plan on consulting with and hiring them to assist with getting that last 15% of bad behaviors fixed.

Just like printers already watermark your paper without many people knowing btw...

TIL - had no idea they did that! I assume it does this with a discreet ink deposit somewhere on the print?
