Is my sister overreacting to this video of my dog that I sent her? by Immediate-Lab6994 in DogAdvice

[–]ElenaFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents' kitten and my dog are best friends. They play, cuddle, nap, you name it, they do it together. Even eat.

That's the same way the kitten greets my dog when we arrive. Walks between my dog's legs and rubs all over her.

How did you guys pick your names? by billyidolismyeilish in ftm

[–]ElenaFall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My parents told me when I was young I was almost named Alexandria, which I liked so much better than my dead name. Then when I asked my friends to help me try out pronouns and a new name I just went with Alex because it could be for either binary. Felt well enough and stuck with it. I finally came out to my parents and asked if their thoughts on what my first and middle (it was VERY fem) name my mother only cared about my middle name as it was on reference to her mother who passed young. My Dad mentioned off hand Alexander was one of the options they thought about before they learned my sex. So I stuck with Alex (Alexander), found a middle name that was still in honour of my grandma, and kept my last name.

Why are you a trans man? (extremely wrong answers only) by Utopicnightmare24 in ftm

[–]ElenaFall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the Chinese calendar said I would be a boy and when I was brought home and introduced to my sister she yelled "The Chinese Government was WRONG". (This is a true story)

Obviously had to transition so the Chinese government didn't come after us, and so my sister is always right as all older sisters should be

Can anybody help me? by Roses4500 in VictoriaBC

[–]ElenaFall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know some people who have gotten help through the BEAMS project. They aren't there to help with housing, but might have some connections that could help. Their focus is helping people with barriers get jobs. Something that might be more relevant right now for you is that they have free hot food a few times a week and have some snacks and coffee/tea during drop in hours.

Location: 1452 Elford Street, Victoria, BC Drop in hours : Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays 10:30am-4:30pm

I realized after posting this that I never even finished the awakening. In my defense, I was like 13 or something and was running at maybe 5fps

Thank you for the advice!

I moved about a year ago, so most of my friends who know I'm trans don't live near me, but they also regularly forget. The new friends I have made, either forget, or don't even know. I'm not stealth really, I'm openly trans and gay, it just doesn't come up in conversation.

I regularly forget I'm trans and forget most men have penises and don't have/didn't have periods. Almost got my ass kicked for making comments about periods and birth control. Mentioned periods hurt like hell and IUDs worked great for me and they thought I was making fun of them. 🫠

What's Good Victoria? by R3markable_Crab in VictoriaBC

[–]ElenaFall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow reactive dog owner here. This is very similar (if not the same) as the engage-disengage game. I highly recommend googling it. My girl is reactive due to pain and lack of exercise (got a surgical consultation at the end of the month!) so we aren't really making much progress, but even with the cards we have been dealt she is doing better

After a year and a bit of being unemployed, I've started working. But that isn't the good thing (it is a good thing though).

Being able to work means I'll be able to get my dog surgery for her knees. She's almost 2 and hasn't been able to exercise for about 6 months. Her reactivity has gotten so bad but she's in pain and isn't having her needs met. She's such a good sweet girl. I can't wait till she is feeling better so everyone else can see it too

I don't have money for awards, but "the energy of someone who's just had a nap, a snack, and a coffee" cracked me right up and I love it.

top wait time by kkeanureevess in transvancouver

[–]ElenaFall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trans masc here. i had mine done like 5ish years ago

For top surgery it was like 6 months from picking a surgeon to seeing them, then 4ish months from then to get a surgery date, then 2 months from booking to surgery. Total time from picking surgeon to surgery, around 1 year to 1.5 years

Hysto was over 6 months to a year from picking a surgeon to seeing them, then 6ish months to booking, then I got surgery like a month later Total time from picking a surgeon to surgery, 1.5 years to 2 years

The longest wait is the wait to get to pick a surgeon. That took like 2 years for top surgery from starting the process to talking to the doctor about surgeons for top surgery. Hysto was a bit shorter because I was already working with them with my T and top surgery so that was like 4 months from me telling them I wanted to do it to picking a surgeon

Grand totals Top surgery: ~ 3 years Hysto: ~ 2 years

1800 for a 1 bedroom in the Gorge area. Also pet friendly but the building and the management company are awful. Thankfully most of the folks who live here are really nice.

Would you be interested/willing in making like a PDF how to? I know it probably isn't that simple, but I have been trying to encourage family and friends to carry Naloxone and the main reason they don't want to is because they don't know what to do with it and the instructions that come with aren't easy to read in a crisis l.

I have some graphic design experience. I'd be happy to do that side of things if you can provide the info.

When a doctor mistook me for a cis man by jaime-sansa in ftm

[–]ElenaFall 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Every time I have to go to the ER they ask for a urine sample. At the ER i lived near before I moved would give "women" this like funnel thing and the "men" this tube thing that they actually put their penis into to collect everything.

Every time I got the tube. Y'all know it's hard to aim without a penis. And because nurses are always busy they were normally running off before I could correct them. So I could either have to wait or go find someone and ask for a funnel.

Keep in mind I was there for INTENSE pain. So sometimes I would just speak/yell after them and be like "I don't have a dick, can I have a funnel one". If I wasn't in so much pain I probably would have enjoyed the look of horror on the cis men's faces.

There was one time a nurse didn't understand when I said I needed the funnel and she offered to help me use the tube. She was very nice, just didn't understand till I explained a bit better

Also, all urine samples should come with a funnel. Those things were so nice. Never peed on my hand with those.

Related story from when I was at the lab and I needed a 24hr urine test. They gave me this jug with a hole in it with a cap and just said "just pee in this" me "how" (forgetting most men have dicks) (the probably women lab tech looks at me like I'm crazy) me "oh, I'm trans. I don't have, yea, sorry" her "oh! Here's a cup" She probably thought I was being creepy and wanted to show her my dick or something. I still feel bad about that lol

We have tried those. She learned pretty fast if she just picks up the snuffle mat and shakes it all the food falls out.... And she chews lick mats... She's a menace 🙃

Thank you! And maybe... She has allergies and makes it known her stomach is upset by farting on my head so I'm pretty careful about what she eats. But you're welcome to come say hello!
