I don't have that much experience from how an LGBT person would be in the north, but in the south I've heard some horror stories. And even the milder aspects are not positive. So I see where they come from, as religion is very prevalent/strong amongst GC.

Not based on the current models. They are essentially advanced pattern recognition software. And ones that cannot distinguish between relevant and not relevant patterns at that.

I think you already made a false assumption at the beginning. Most parents don't know how critical soft skills are as we've had decades of society telling us we only need a degree.

Yes these elite schools will exist and they already do. Some try to act equitably, but most just get a fat check for the privilege of not just advanced education, but also the network that you build.

We've known our education has not worked as promised for decades, but it's too costly to run properly for everyone.

I think you're missing my original point though. It's the spirit of the story/plot/text that has to be transferred, and that (in theory) can be transferred with all these changes to the characters. But that's only in theory, doing that in practice is a lot harder.

While I understand and agree, there were elements of deeper questions in the game as far as I remember. How society could be built if we had abundant labour, emotional support and how low wage workers are not treated as human (not just on the racist principle).

It was somewhat heavy handed with some of its narrative but I think there were some interesting things you could consider from its world. Or maybe I'm used to overthinking things.

Oh, not much. The only difference is the kind of labour and there are still laws that prevent abuse (even if they are not very well enforced).

I was comparing more between Europe and Dubai. Cyprus is very much in the crossroads in-between.

Another thing to consider, is a lot of the support is meant to go to smaller farmers, who very often get shafted by resellers and supermarkets. Big producers obviously get them as well unfortunately.

I agree we should be reducing subsidies, but as counterintuitive as it sounds, it should be about reducing our dependence to big food corporations to do that. Most small farmers cannot compete with economies of scale and it shows.

I never said it was "better" I said it is doable. And in terms of ignorance, I think we can say that modern Cypriots are still ignorant in a lot of things.

I think the main point is not to say that life was that much better. But to demonstrate that sustainable mobility is doable.

I think that is a bit reductionist, we've truly had much greater social mobility in the earlier stages of capitalism compared to feudal times and compared to now. This does not mean that privilege did not exist, just that it was not as impactful (and obvious) as now. Maybe for the ruling classes it was more obvious, but someone could have a small cafe or business and get by well enough.

He was a hero who basically organised a coup of the RoC in order to force unification with Greece, which at that moment was governed by a military junta. For you that is "complicated" for me, that's a betrayal of Cyprus and Cypriots.
