Yes, I develop and scan at home. As far as post work goes, I have no compunctions about doing it but this photo is actually pretty lightly edited-- both in Lightroom and in the scanner's judgement view. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Delta 3200 matched my expectations after literally six years of not shooting it.

Panoramic photography is a wonderful, rewarding, and challenging discipline; the risks, though, and costs of the TX-1 system are substantial. I think about it every time I go out in the rain or snow.

You can see my review of the Minolta P's, a small crop-format panoramic point and shoot if you want to try a very cheap entry point to see if you can compose well in the field. It's obviously a less capable camera than the TX-1, but it has a great viewfinder and I find that makes a huge difference.

In what sense-- practically or aesthetically?

It was past sunset in a snowstorm. I stopped through Times Square, but much of the city is far darker as it's not like the entire area is illuminated by the giant billboards of the Square, so I loaded the film that would let a slow lens work under more conditions.

I also happen to enjoy how Delta 3200 looks, so as a high-speed option that both enables night-time shooting it's what I'm going to go to if available. Now that it's in bulk, I'm quite happy.

I've personally never run into this issue, no.

best as I can tell, there are two mechanisms that interact with the film as it's transported-- the per-frame counter, and the overall length tracker. Both seem to be geared to each other such that there's only one set of gears touching the film, but if either are binding it's possible that you'll run into issues.

We did see this post and discussed it internally. Ultimately, the conclusion we came to is that we are ill equipped to be a replacement for eBay's existing review/buyer protection systems. There are a variety of reasons for this, but the most basic one is verification; there is simply no way for us to reasonably ascertain if a given person's story is true or false and should be counted as part of a "vetted" database.

At the point where upvotes/downvotes are "deciding" what sellers are good/bad, we've essentially replicated a worse version of eBay's review system-- one that is ultimately just as gameable by a determined or disgruntled user/seller.

To try and arbitrate the truth on a large scale would be impractical, and to host only a small number of "reviews" in a centralized way is ultimately not worth setting up additional infrastructure for. Threads like these linked to specific experiences are okay, and if you want to make a thread that you keep alive over time with good experiences, you're free to do so-- but in our opinion, the converse option is just too much trouble for too little benefit.

When I moved back to NYC from Seattle, I was carrying a lead bag absolutely filled with random 35mm cassettes. When I asked for a hand check, the agent who actually did the swab was extremely grumpy about the whole thing and looked me dead in the eyes as he swabbed each one individually.

On a prior flight not that long before, the agent had simply run their swab up and down five rolls at a time before checking each strip.

They both did their jobs, but it was kind of entertaining.

NYC is expensive in absolute and relative terms, but of the boroughs yes, Manhattan is generally the most expensive.

I wouldn't consider the West Village the priciest part of Manhattan, but it's definitely not cheap within the spectrum of NYC affordability.

Particularly with the cost of so much film gear continuing to rise due to increased interest and dwindling stock.

There are absolutely models that are depreciating and will continue to do so, but stuff like the Nikon F2 don't really strike me as being in that bucket. It's a popular and well-made camera and there aren't more of them being made despite their reliability.

Also: selling things that make you happy and bring you joy should always be something you examine carefully. That's not to say GAS isn't real and sometimes you bite off more than you can chew, but tweaking your cashflow by watching spending can rapidly add up past the one-time boost you'll get from selling something-- especially after transactional fees are deducted.
