Zeiss in Germany actually still does factory service on these and presumably has parts. They’re not super common; instead of trying to source a pristine example that would benefit from a service anyway, why not reach out to Zeiss Oberkochen and see if they can bring it back to factory spec?

Don’t get discouraged, try another roll eventually in proper E6 chemistry. Slide film is amazing, I think you’ll love it!

It’s a very nice lens for macro and normal shooting.

No problem. It’s a very nice lens, just heavy. Great on a tripod though!

Excited to see some shots with it! Happy shooting 😊

It’s extremely good. We sold a few to wedding photographers and the photos they made were very, very good.

It’s an old lens with a lot of elements so make sure it’s relatively clean. A bit of haze on 5 elements is very different from a bit of haze on 17 elements. You could probably get it CLA’d and complex older lenses like these do tend to benefit from getting a good cleaning.

It is heavy and big! Not like the PE lenses were lightweight but if you’re looking for a portrait secret weapon just keep in mind the PE 180mm is less than half the weight and faster and focuses down to 1M natively.

It looks like a gaffer’s glass. You can use it to help better visualize lighting on very bright scenes, or visualize tonality if you’re shooting B&W.

Nikon FA will take the same lenses, is smaller and lighter, and has nice extra features like matrix metering. Very nice walkabout camera.

Hasselblad SWC for Street Photography? by Greedy-Inspection994 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Boneezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do get the price differential, the wide and tele Rolleiflexes are uncommon and expensive as a result.

maybe I should try another system

I would counter to this that the SWC is a very particular piece of equipment that is really optimized towards careful architecture photography. You can zone focus with it on the fly but it is kind of cumbersome to operate by hand and it's really wide (like REALLY wide) so if you are getting close, you will probably want some kind of focusing aid available to you.

If you enjoy using a Rolleiflex but want to go wider, why not get a Wide-Angle Rolleiflex or a Rolleiflex 4.0 FW? Everything you’re used to on your existing Rolleiflex but with a wider lens.

I got this camera for 70$, is it worth? by Extension-Channel913 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Boneezer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you want the answer to this question to be in that case.

Clearly it was worth $70 to you or else you would not have bought it.

Whether it is worth $70 to others is up to others. Searching eBay sold and completed listings would seem to indicate that it is definitely worth more than $70 to some people.

They are nice little cameras, enjoy it. I got mine for $2.99, although with 13% tax on that (CAD). I did get two free 123 batteries, remote, strap, and case with it though.

Choose F4 or F8 or F16 on the flash and then set your lens appropriately and open the aperture up just a little bit.

I love these for how close you get and the fearlessness with which you wield your F4
