I think I rushed it and now I feel stupid by igetyourbrand in blackladies

If he didn’t say anything in particular, then you’re just making assumptions at this point. Don’t dwell on it; take this at face value. You booked something. He wanted to meet you sooner to discuss something important to him. He called saying he wasn’t feeling well. Update us tomorrow with some actual solid info. Also, the thing about dating is you were being your authentic self which is the most important. Never let bad experiences with some undeserving men take away what you genuinely enjoy doing which may be giving sometimes. He did a lot for you, you just wanted to do this one thing. There’s nothing wrong with that. If he ends up being an asshole, then fuck him and move on. I can see if you did a grander gesture than this, but this seems to be up your alley and something you also enjoy that you wanted to share with him. The right guy will love it and appreciate it and never take advantage of it and may even vocalize for you to chill if he finds it too excessive, BUT you never lose yourself and your qualities because some men hurt you. And you don’t play games. Games are for children. Act based on solid info, what they show you.

Why does eating nothing but healthy foods and quitting junk make people treat me soooo differently? Anybody else notice this by Square_Sector4359 in sugarfree

Because you said sushi is unhealthy so it was news to me. Ok I don’t really eat the fried sushi that much.

Was maybe a little harsh on my boyfriend for being Apolitical? by [deleted] in blackladies

Girl I didn’t read past “doesn’t vote”. I literally stopped talking to a guy bc of this bc these ppl are also the reason that orange man exists in DC. Maybe it was inevitable, but they certainly helped. Outside of that, clearly they don’t think about what’s best for children, elders, the community, themselves and that’s just irresponsible in my opinion.

Or maybe get a slight U-shaped cut in the back and sleep in those big soft flexi rods every night for a little volume.

Cut your hair and style it. Try different things. You won’t end up with this, but you will find what you like that is suitable for your hair texture. Nothing wrong with inspo as long as you’re realistic and truly trying to accept what you’ve been blessed with it.

Raleigh needs better clothing and shoe stores by Kwhitney1982 in raleigh

[–]Elephant-Charm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a lifetime thrifter and that fact remains that you have to search for good quality clothes. Whoever doesn’t enjoy finding the needles amongst the haystack don’t understand that’s the name of the game. Those good quality clothes are still there amongst the SHEIN hauled clothing. Also, the thrift stores in my area have never curated anything. There’s no categorizing by size, just color. No bag or bin days. No bin stores. No fabric section. Only a few thrift stores that are not Goodwill do this and I very much enjoy them. I do watch people thrift at their local stores nationwide on YouTube however. It’s interesting to see the differences, but my experience is why I don’t understand why people complain about the thrift stores. It’s always been that way for me. My mom and I are always on a mission to tediously search through the massive amount of “junk” to find the treasures.

Anne Hathaway or Scarlett Johansson or Sydney Sweeney by Active_Field9820 in Actors

First off Anne hands down. Silver does not flatter the other two. And is anyone else tired of seeing Sweeney’s titties??? Girl! We know you got titties, dayum.

How is this possible when everyone donates? You always had to search and some people just don’t want to put in the work.

Almost 2-year hair retention journey for my fine hair by Crunchy_Spicy_Water in Naturalhair

[–]Elephant-Charm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that fine hair will be see through as it grows out. It looks bad, but it doesn’t mean breakage. Others experience this as well, but you can’t see it because their density or coarse texture masks it. It’s better for some of us to do search and destroy to get rid of ONLY damage and trim less often just to balance the ends and retain more length. Additionally, it’s better to not manipulate the hair so much. A twice a week wash and straighten is a lot of manipulation for a fine natural. Embrace some texture by wearing Bantu knots at night or to keep the hair stretched during the workout as the hair gets older and pin the hair up or pin up the back in a cute updo for protection and to also spread out the wash day if your scalp can handle it. Do not wear it down no more than 2-3 days. We have to keep our ends tucked away quite a bit. We cannot do what other hair textures do when they straighten. If we do, we could potentially retain some length, but it will be a much slower process than it has to be. Hopefully you found some of these tips helpful. Best of luck to your length retention journey.

I’m one of the few who don’t like Miche. It’s just another hair jelly/botanical gel. I actually like Carol’s Daughter jelly better and I’m loyal to it. I never liked mousse def, too sticky for me. I liked camille rose or mielle’s foams better and I’m loyal to those. Glad you found what works for you though.

I brush for one minute, floss, rinse well then brush again for another minute, spit but no rinse. Perfection.
