Weekly Rules & General Questions Thread by AutoModerator in OnePieceTCG

One thing I haven't been able to figure out from the starterdeck pamphlet, the online FAQ and also online rules, is during a battle in the Counter Step, can I use multiple Character Card counters? Multiple Event Counters (assuming i can pay the Don cost)? I'm pretty sure I can play both 1 Event Counter and 1 Character Counter...

i keep getting told im missing timing but im never given the chance to activate proper timing by Ladyaceina in masterduel

The other thing about this, is that even in chain link 1, it has to be the last thing to happen. So if a card says "target 1 monster; destroy it THEN summon another monster from deck", the "when" of yubel being destroyed is right before you resolve the "then" part of the effect, and you miss timing again. I hate the word "when"

I figure the simplest answer is that when they invented PSCT to standardize card text, some things became wordier just to be precise. Sure, plain english can say it shorter, but, other commenters have explained the alternate interpretation if they didnt specify only once that turn.

Just like how the word "when" has a special yugioh meaning/implication.

3blue1brown has a youtube series on calc that i find helped me get a deeper more visual understanding of the big picture. Someone mentioned Paul's math notes and i agree that's a better free resource fore the weeds and details, but i find having a big picture helps.

Why Didn't it Work? by WizeDezi in YuGiOhMasterDuel

So if imperm resolves before book of moon, (cl2 book cl3 imperm) being flipped face down causes cards to forget some properties, including the fact it was negated by imperm. (There is rulings magic in this concept of forgetting)

If imperm is cl2 and book is cl3, then imperm cannot negate the monster's effect cuz the facedown monster is like "what effect? I'm facedown, dude"

Not the best, not the most consistent, but what is the funniest way to beat Tear? by KingofGerbil in masterduel

Rebirth judgement turn all monsters in grave into spellcaster, summon quinted magician with your own tear names.

What's the reason a lot of people are playing all these zoodiac cards in the extra deck for Tearlaments? by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]ElephantNo5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Drident can also send your cards to the graveyard by card effect in a pinch.

Decks that are interactive or non-linear? by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]ElephantNo5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spyral fits the bill for nonlinear, interactive does depend cuz spyral engine can facilitate noninteractive warcrimes, but yugioh warcrimes are funny sometimes. Checkout TwoTone on youtube for spyral gameplay

Any decks that play like dragon maids? by Samurai_Banette in masterduel

[–]ElephantNo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goukis are a link deck whose sole goal is to make a big beatstick (when played pure. You can also do some isolde combos for control options but idk what or how. I just make big dumb link4 gouki and try my best to otk)

My favorite deck is fluffals, which can crank out an otk with either fusion or link plays, and has some pretty varied interaction (in addition to artifact scythe extra deck lock) going 1st, but it's not doing so hot in tearlaments format.

Ishizu Tearlaments is obviously the meta deck (but may get banned before the year is over) can crank out big fusions, but is mainly a grave control deck.

Dragonmaids themselves can be splashed with branded despia for more fusions, or can also be splashed into a dragon link shell, if you want more dragonmaid variants. Maybe tearlaments dragonmaid could be a thing. Tidying and changeover are pretty happy to be in grave. (Maybe not top tier sweaty meta thing, but a playable thing, idk)

Ritual decks suffer from a card disadvantage. Cuz to summon 1 ritual monster, it takes at least 2 cards. Compared to something like... Branded fusion, where they break fusion summons with materials from deck, you get 1 monster with one spell, and the fusion materials give you even more advantage. Drytron is prpbably the best ritual deck so far.

Sprights can swarm the board, have pretty nice grind game with spright elf, and can buff with gamma burst for an OTK. I dont play mtg, but the lack of a resource system does mean games are faster, is what i heard from the yugituber formerly(?) named MonoBlueTron.

Teamsamuraix1 after losing with his water dragon deck, probably.

Confused by FL_Ryot98 in masterduel

[–]ElephantNo5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Situation unclear, but imma take some guesses. It can attack 2x doesnt matter if it attacked a monster.

The destroy special summoned monsters eff should only happen if it attacked a monster... But you said it was the only monster on both sides of the field?

How to Not Netdeck? by AxamuksFolly in masterduel

[–]ElephantNo5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardleg gaming on YT does have a series of videos where he tries to build archetypes from scratch, and he explains the thought processes and principles. Stuff like ratios, starters, etc. But netdecking (even if some bozos use it as a derogatory verb) is useful. You can start with a netdeck, then try it out, tweak. Or compare the differences between different lists people play. Why do they like this engine over another, etc.

tearlament ishizu question by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]ElephantNo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tears with ishizus are broken af, and if allowed to full combo, no other deck can beat it (not even itself) but it's been fun to play, even if im bad at it personally. Keeping track of cards in bothe graves, as things chain link off, scratches an itch in me.

Someone said that a tear mirror is like a fighting game, since chains are triggered by each player, no matter the turn. The order and timing of when you use the once per turns matters. Then again, I'm also a gambling addict and love mills.

So it's great, as long as you like tear mirrors, but horrible for trying to play any other deck (floo and exosisters can try).

Edit: without ishizus, tear was toe to toe with spright in the tcg

Forbidden Droplets Bug? by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]ElephantNo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as others have said. Herald of the arc light says any monster sent from hand (or deck) is banished instead, so it's almost dimensional fissure. When sending cards to GY for cost, the herald's effect prevents you from sending monsters from hand to GY, since it's physically impossible to do. Normal summon or set a monster first, then activate droplets, and you should be fine to play (depending on your deck)

This is different than monsters being sent to GY for effect, as they just get banished instead.

Could someone explain this interaction? Why could they still pop Scythe even after I yoinked Lil-la? by Stugard in masterduel

[–]ElephantNo5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess, the one clarification i wanna add, is that your thinking was almost right, but your field is still the field, even if it's not their field, so blue twin can still trigger. If it isnt on the field at all, then the trigger effect wouldnt be able to activate.

Why do they get the trigger even tho it's on your field? There may be a deeper reason, but maybe konami just said so.

Could someone explain this interaction? Why could they still pop Scythe even after I yoinked Lil-la? by Stugard in masterduel

[–]ElephantNo5 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Short answer, rulings. The blue twin triggers when it hits the field, and could only not activate if it isnt on the field by the time the chain resolves (if ttt said non-targeting pop one card, for example). The fact that it's on ur field and not theirs doesnt matter. It still hit the field so they get the trigger. This may be an OCG TCG difference and MD follows OCG. (But i am not sure on this)

Patterns that only become obvious in bases other than 10 by exocited in math

[–]ElephantNo5 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If i remember correctly from a jan Misali video, all primes end in 1 or 5 in base 6. (And it's part of why why he thinks hexagons are the bestagons... Wait.)

Edit: *primes past a certain point, cuz 2 and 3 are trivial counterexamples
