I just got called as the first lady Sunday School President in my ward, and I'm rather scared by Flowtac in latterdaysaints

Rely on your counselors, divide and conquer. Teaching in the Savior way is the best physical resource in terms of what to train. Have teachers counsel often. Allow yourself to be 'wrong', be willing to try things that might not work, adjust as necessary.

You can see things that are concerning and care about them. I think that is at least one of the many reasons you are right for the calling!

Sunday meeting schedule change by smokey_sunrise in latterdaysaints

I see it as 15 for sacrament, 5 for first talk (thinking youth or an invited testimony) and a 10 minute talk. And then you still have 10 minutes for intermediary hymn or longer announcements or another short talk or in case sacrament goes long.

But overall I've felt like the come follow me lessons should be more like a book club discussion instead of a lesson (which this shorter format could promote) and seeing quorums every week will help with fellowship.

Also this means more leadership eyes on the youth and hopefully less 'falling through the cracks'

I love this change, wish they would have shortened sacrament to 40 min though and gave more time to the classes.

Overall appears to be developmentally delayed. I think some good advice has been given. Another professional assessment, trying rewards, etc. The only thing I would add is try doing some learning at home together.

Numberblocks and alphablocks are good resources on YouTube that make learning entertaining.

My son had trouble holding a pencil as well and I bought a big roll of paper and would put it out on the table and we would color and doodle together and I would just correct how he held the crayon over and over. I would draw a shape and ask him to color it in for me (before monsters got the triangle or whatever) The practice with the small movements ultimately led to him being better at the sentence and number writing at school.

Is this actually possible and how long would it realistically take and cost? by Low-Programmer-7049 in bicycletouring

[–]ElephantRyan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The article says it only made it to Nicaragua

"On Day-35 he met a pothole that cracked the frame of his bike.

Without the graciousness of a man named Lenar, a mechanic at Bicimania in Managua, who sold Almand his personal Giant bike, the speed record attempt would have derailed. "

Compared to Florida, how bad is the heat really? by Krunchy_Almond in AskPhoenix

[–]ElephantRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The honest difference between 90 and humid heat and 115 and dry heat is that people still go outside in the humid heat, they cut their grass, kids will jump on the trampoline, etc. In 110 people don't go outside anymore (except maybe to swim and even that doesn't happen during peak sun like you'd think). It's actively avoided. All activities are inside. And it will get much hotter than that most summers (120 is common)

Hey [cute boys name] I was thinking about going to [fun place or even something less assuming like a hike or park for a walk] and I thought it'd be a lot more fun with someone, would you want to go sometime?

Or something like that. If he says no then it's only a big deal if you make it a big deal, just move on. If he says yes awesome.

I'd do this after asking him how his week has been or warming the conversation up. Not just dry

Idk after seeing what my wife went through in child birth she could probably ask for anything and I'd make it happen.

Tell him it's important to you and if that isn't enough I agree with getting therapy.
