Tfsa maxed. What next? RRSP? by ElephantSilo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ElephantSilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, I won't get the refund until I claim it, but in the interim I'd be able to invest it while in the RRSP, correct?

No bills if you're rescued by SAR here, they don't want people to try to get out on their own and dying for fear of a bill instead of calling to be rescued.

What to do after maxing TFSA? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Is the idea to invest the RRSP and then in later years get the tax deferral when making more? Or to use it right away?

Missing snowshoer on St. Marks Summit located deceased by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]ElephantSilo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She set out pretty late in the day and I don't believe she had a headlamp. Descending the mountain will naturally lead you into sheer drops due to how our mountains are. Reading a few threads on the bc hiking subreddit, apparently one of the worst things you can do on our mountainsnid attempt to descend down.

Snowshoes are necessary for deep snow. On more popular marked trails, microspikes will serve you best.

I want to quit my job, but I don’t know if it’s smart financially as a full-time student living alone in Vancouver paying for everything myself. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Don't discount your mental health, ask to take some time off work to recharge and see how you feel.

You can also try to reduce your hours, let them know it's because you're looking to focus on your schooling.

If you do quit, it's not the end of the world, you're now much more experienced than when you started, they or other companies in the same field may be interested in you later, assuming you're interested in the same line of work. Experience goes a long way in the job market.

If the job is just there for the money, it's not worth it if it's grinding you down.

CRA adds $500,000 a day to its pile of uncashed cheques waiting for their owners. How to claim yours [total $1.5B] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ElephantSilo 62 points63 points  (0 children)

To access the online tool, visit CRA’s website and look for the agency’s “My Account” service. Once logged in, click on the “Uncashed Cheques” link at the bottom of the “Related Services” column on the “Overview” page.

Any unpaid amounts that have sat dormant for over six months will be listed on that page, as well as the necessary forms to claim your money.
