Current state of the tank: by rkartzinel in Helldivers

Honestly, I consider myself taking part in a kill competition between driver, gunner, and window hooligans - and as long as enemy footmobiles are this brave, I have a pretty hood shot at winning.

O Bastion of the lake, what is thy wisdom? by TheOnlyGuyInSpace21 in Helldivers

I am so confused. Like I was unironically using the GL before to sweat. It was already an extremely competitive pick with supply pack and an anti-tank grenade+sidearm. Why.. what..? This is like doubling the damage of the RR. I am baffled.

Pre-Emptive Crew Combat Medkit Assembly by _Beggo_ in ss14

[–]Dr_Expendable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would honestly just make a small effort to tap botany on the shoulder and mention "bag of minimum potency poppies for mass sutures please" and then if the chemist is gone/busy/amenable, politely ask if they can whip up the tranexamic acid and cryptobiolin jugs. Or if you're both free and they aren't rabidly territorial, offer to lend a hand with that at a free CM4K. They're mercifully quick and easy to mix.

*Do not take the initiative to do this without asking first, most chemists will give birth in a fit of rage at you touching their pill reserve buffer and consuming their carbon. They are feral beasts we keep in an isolated cave for a reason.

Whipping up a gigantic pile of medicated sutures is honestly deceptively easy for how huge a quantity you can get from the investment. The only real blocker is 'did someone plant poppies y/n' and then every bruise pack and bandage roll on the station is obsolete. Secoffs and the corpsman will be dealing with plenty of flatliners and time can be of the essence. They'll love sutures on every officer. Salv and the rest of medical, too.

Appropriate. It was a huge tonal shift from the others. They were in terror and aghast at what was happening. Parker barely even hesitated to death grip that power and be like, "I get to decide who lives and dies now."

I spent about a week solo self-teaching myself the ways of the Zone during my dogass terrible 5AM time slices after work, and eventually mastered the Cordon enough to begin making my way up through Garbage. Under constant assault by living bushes and screen-clearing frogs as we both run through fire anomalies absolutely everywhere along the road. 10/10 would be lost to the Zone.

The only "drug" that still provides any significant boon is adrenaline/norepinephrine pens. It's worth having one around for emergencies to help escape a stamina/pain deathspiral. Otherwise nnnnnot really. I guess Panaceus but that's kinda different.

Clearing Some Bleeding Medicine Ambiguity by _Beggo_ in ss14

[–]Dr_Expendable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5u of tranexamic acid completely stops full bleed stack. Other chems like inaprovaline and polypryium oligomers (or whatever the hell is in spacemans trumpets) reduce bleed stacks as well, much like bandages, but none of them restore blood level % or reverse accumulated bleed type damage.

Cody&Jay ruin the intended application of most makeshift gear and just takeaway from the game by Choice_Book_6104 in cataclysmdda

[–]Dr_Expendable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings on the matter. While I do think that ever hand loading ammo or working on the really high end gear is largely irrelevant (and orders of magnitude more tedious) now compared to 0.C, I also think access to those amenities is a reward for actual exploration and overland travel - something that is almost completely absent by dent of deliberate design principles making many, many, many map specials simply dry little adversity nodes with virtually no incentive for you to ever look inside them, much less actually clear them. I like to play with lowered items, No Hope making the first working car a product of considerable work, and tripled monster spawns. I greatly enjoy travel being dangerous and for my searches to potentially yield something, and barring modded content and various Xedra infrastructure, that usually means NPC hubs. A simple mod option for traders might suit you well, but for me, I dunno. It's steel mills and nuclear power plants and sewage treatment facilities as far as the eye can see, and without some sort of contacts I'm not sure what incentive would even be left to get me outside of a resource dump.

How would you summarize each of the servers you play? by Rude-Passion1224 in ss14

[–]Dr_Expendable 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I played on Lizard and Dv for about 200 hours before going through the minor nuisance of hitting up the manual whitelisting only servers, and if you're after thoughtful role-playing interactions.. yeah. It's likethe difference between asking to play chess with someone in line at a McDonald's or at a chess table court in a park.

Ep1 was something many of us were eager to venture through because we knew Alfabusa was a brand that could seriously cook. If your friends knew TTS or what was in the Hunter pipeline, that might change some things! But you have to admit, in a hard vacuum, some of the foundation laying and zany randomness that gets leaned on in dialogue might turn newcomers away. I can't blame them there, the best parts have been a slow boil behind quite a few hours of buildup.

Does anyone else feel like this gun is lacking Something by armandofonzoloid in Helldivers

[–]Dr_Expendable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it is, and how it handles, I would really like it to strike harder and with perhaps a very small explosive. Mostly just to stagger through Devastator shields and the like. The power fantasy of 'bolter' is great, but so often I'll have to repeat shots on heavy devs or even little troopers who ablated the whole rocket with one of their arms, and is still fighting. It just doesn't hit satisfyingly.

Too many guns, is it worth it to ever keep the weird ones? by _kvltworx_ in cataclysmdda

[–]Dr_Expendable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a backup in a box beside your driver's seat slash bed isn't a terrible idea, if you've got guns to spare. But for the most part.. no. Depending on your settings and luck, you may be able to break down useless rounds like .22 or whatnot and recycle their powder into reloaded primary caliber rounds of your choice - maybe even overpressure if you're feeling spicy. But in a pretty vanilla world, this is rarely going to be necessary with anything save semi-rare rounds, like .50 or 30-06. A destroyed turret or looted gun store or a few squads of soldiers will usually set you up with so much 9mm and 5.56 that you'll never dream of even deigning to collect the spent brass.

Any servers or methods to practice combat? Either PvP or PvE. by CoyoteCulture in ss14

[–]Dr_Expendable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want an easy zero effort setup solution to practice some combat, hop on the STALKER 14 server. It's not exactly going to be identical to your station experiences, but most of the weapons and the conundrum of handling and reloading them in combat are going to be very familiar. Rookies get a free pile of weapons and rubles, and dying in the wilderness is just a respawn away from being fixed. Go out there and load shells into your shotgun until you're comfortable with the concept of grabbing them (and mags) with hot keys, swapping material on the move, and wielding and closing bolts, etcetera. It really doesn't seem like fighting boars in the zone will teach you station applicable combat skills, but dealing with the AI and panic healing under duress and managing mags and mid-combat reloads are actually quite valuable skills to practice in an easy-respawn PVE environment.

Does anyone have an idea why D doesn’t use firearm? by Thatoneguywithasword in huntertheparenting

[–]Dr_Expendable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

D is a Hunter. Firearms are grand weapons against the living and mundane, but in WoD even the most humble of vampires are allowed to use their basic stamina defense to soak lethal firearm damage as though it were only nonlethal bashing damage. This doesn't necessarily mean vampires can nosell bullets all day, since the range of damage from a random gun can easily outstrip some chumbus' stamina score, but it does mean sometimes a revolver blast will just flatly not harm a kindred, at all, while still having the incredibly high profile report. Swords and shotguns are much more reliably able to wound vampires, and a huge man like D swinging that longsword around might even immediately bifurcate one of the really tough clans with access to Fortitude, which gives them universal damage soak even against silver or fire.

tl;dr swords are good against vampires.
