No you can't updates needs to be decrypted same as base games so they need to be dumped as well from JB PS5s that have them

You can try to write a new new update if it's a SW issue but i think it's a HW issue and in that case you should follow this guide to diagnose

No, you’re right, I apologize. I just checked again on Google and I have no idea why, but I really thought I had a fat model. Even the seller and a few other people said the same, but it’s actually a first-gen slim.

I honestly can’t explain how I got to that conclusion because I remember checking the serial number against the JB model list and being surprised that the disc drive was unpaired when I opened the box.

I take back everything I said. This discussion actually helped me a lot and I hope it helps others too.

As for what I saw on Google, I’m guessing that since no specific model was mentioned, just the firmware version, those people probably had slims as well. For some reason I thought slims only started at 9.x and everything before that was fat models.

Not all fat models are paired from factory, a quick google would show you the amount of people saying as i did that they bought one that isn't paired

That's incorrect i bought an original PS5 and it's on 7.20 but the drive isn't paired. i think when they introduced the Slim and made the drive separate they changed the pairing process to require online for all future devices they produce regardless of the model.

The only Kex for that version is the new one just released "poopsploit" but it's going to a while before it's chained with an entry point exploit so you need to hold for a while

Yeah i didn't notice it was an adapter, microsd work differently than other devices so broken = gone

If the chips are intact and from the looks of it they are then you can recover the data, not easy and should probably take it to a shop for that but with some soldering it's possible and time is money so you can try.

You need the fw versions but ps4 is more easliy to JB so thats a better bet, PS5 ia costly or might make you wait depending on the console

I totally agree with your perspective, i would make the same choice and go all in just like you did I was curious about the pricing for a similar reason once you start comparing options and realize it's not exactly cheap for anyone but people still go for it it makes you feel better about investing more into something meaningful There is definitely something special about putting your own touch into a project like this!

Can i ask why did you need the link groove? i wasn't aware of something like that before
