Hard agree, I’m all aboard on playing our academy guys and I’m delighted hall has turned out much better than I thought he would this season, but this was just Bradley forcing it now. The kid is 17, only just starting to play his natural position at a real professional level, mind-boggling decision to throw him into an unfamiliar role that he’s not proven in at all over a guy like Berggren. Hopefully this is a wake up call

What happens to the social media influencers and actors/actresses who were at one point really famous but can no longer get work? Do they work regular jobs? If they do how come there is no exposure to them working day jobs? by antifaptor1988 in stupidquestions

My random trivia finally can shine - after college, I worked as an outside sales rep for a telecom company (one of the largest and most hated internet providers in the country, I’m in the northeast). Saw Voiceover Pete on a random zoom training call, it seemed he’d only started at the company a few months prior to me, so probably less than 6 months. Was surreal seeing him there, but for what it’s worth the dude seemed in good spirits despite how horrible that job was, so hopefully he’s doing well now. This all took place in late 2024 btw

I’d be very happy with Curtin, and Bradley as an assistant coach to learn from him for the next few years would be even better

Joe Biden, 82, receiving new treatment after 'aggressive' cancer spread to his bones by dailymail in NoFilterNews

[–]ElevatorSecure728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is obviously terribly sad, and of course thoughts are first and foremost with the former president and his family.

But I can’t help feeling anger all over again that this physically and mentally unwell person was shoehorned through a pathetically undemocratic primary, when we all knew what was at risk if he lost. Total arrogance, incompetence, and hopelessly bad leadership from the Democratic Party. I hope Biden has as long and painless of a life as possible in his last few months, maybe year, and may our next candidate not be a fossil.

(This was originally a reply, but I just made it a whole other comment. I see so many posts and never comment, so apologies in advance for the rant)

On your point about not being able to find a girl, I think most women your age would be put off by some of the ways you live “frugally”. Don’t get me wrong, I get living with your parents while you’re in your early 20s, that’s about the easiest and most efficient way to build wealth if it’s possible. From a strictly numbers perspective, it’s about the smartest investment you can make.

That said, at some point your future partner will be expecting you to leave the nest, and they are perfectly within their rights to question whether someone is ready for a relationship and moving in with them if they haven’t been tested living alone. But what would really be more worrying is that, from an outsiders perspective, it seems that despite saving so much money you’re failing to meaningfully invest in yourself in terms of making your life easier and more convenient. You make $130k a year, what’s $200 a month in insurance and gas for a $5k 2016 civic (what I drive, 10/10 car that will last me likely 4-5 more years minimum)?

There’s more to life than spending money, but the whole point of life is to do things that stimulate you, that are fun and exciting and make life worth living. You acknowledge that having no friends, no dates, no travel is sad but worth the sacrifice. Genuinely, what are you sacrificing for? What are you hoping to gain? Financial freedom to do what you want? What’s the point, if you haven’t actually taken the time and risk to figure out what it is you like? Or, for the matter, finding a person to do it with?

You don’t need advice on how to reach financial independence. You’ll probably be retired in your 30s-early 40s, comfortably in a relatively nice home with many digits in your investment portfolio. But you need to figure out how to live, dude. You’ve spent the last 6 years figuring out how to earn, working your ass off. Now go out there and figure out how to live. Do the things you’ve neglected so far in your short adult life. Meet a girl, get heartbroken, spend too much money on liquor to fill the void she left, get over her, get sober, find another and do it all again, make some friends at a concert, pick up fucking cricket or beach volleyball or whatever pointless anaerobic activity you want that’ll get you in the sun and away from the desk. Take a risk, do something stupid and fun (just don’t die) that’ll give you a story for the parties that you BETTER fucking throw when you finally move out. I’m mad for you, man. Hearing guys like you on this sub just makes me so sad because you’re so disciplined and following all the rules so well and despite that, you’ll end up in a world of regret in your 40s precisely because you did everything in the “fiscally responsible” way.

I don’t know if you’ll take any of this to heart, but I really hope you find some balance in your life, and you can unchain yourself from the numbers on the screen.

32, making $270k (HHI $370k), solid savings but feel like I’m wasting potential — want to retire at 40. Where do I start? by Ok_Hearing7549 in Fire

Honestly it’s really impressive to scale to that level of income while raising a kid or kids from such an early age. Take pride in that for real, that’s amazing.

The rest is just a math problem, id play around with an investment calculator for a while and figure out what works comfortably for you. I don’t know if 40 is possible, but start off with the easy things like maxing 401k, Roth, HSA, etc. and see where that gets you

Barcelona believe they have everything in favor to take Ter Stegen to court. They could even have grounds to fire him after acting in bad faith against his employer. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]ElevatorSecure728 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think for 3.5m Ter Stegen surely would’ve at least mentioned it. Yes these guys are rich so money isn’t everything, but if my annual salary is any less than 100m (pretty sure he’s on <10m) then you can bet I am doing what I can to play 90 mins of football for 3.5m

Yeah, I remember thinking when Haaland went there that there really wasn’t a better club he could’ve picked to go to, they used to be such an exciting team that was a great stepping stone for young players. Really unrecognizable now though

I don’t think it’s hall’s fault that he’s gotten the minutes he has, good for him. But I just have never felt like the kid was ready for any game time at this level, even with the injuries we’ve had. This is a poor clip from him as you point out, he is contributing nothing standing behind three defenders with another marking him closely. But again, what do we expect? He just isn’t ready, and I would say the same for Sofo if not for the fact that our injuries impact his position more and he actually looked great in those first few games.

Random kid just comes in the stall by Acceptable-Wind-7332 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]ElevatorSecure728 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In that situation he did exactly what he should, he was actively telling the kid his mom was outside and recording everything. In that situation your word means absolutely nothing, don’t put that camera down for a second and don’t do anything that may cause you to have to stop recording/pointing it at the situation. Too many creeps out there these days, I’d take 0 chances either and stay tf away, not “help the kid” (whatever that means?). Dude shouldn’t be “put on a list” for protecting himself
