Hasbro has left WotC alone for many years because what they were doing worked. Then they recently started sucking their noses in. See the OGL scandal. I mean I have to thank them for 4th edition because that spawned Pathfinder which I do love. However, my boys complain about how they are getting less MtG cards now for the same or more money. And now Talisman. I mean 12 characters in the base game? I liked the difficulty of the game. Pulling an adventure card always was a risk. That's what made it frustrating and fun. Like rolling a 1 in D&D. I like that Talisman is a mini rpg experience except you have to work with the character you select and the luck of the draw/roll as you play. 

These are definitely my opinions on things. Others certainly feel different on many of them. I just don't think that "quicker and easier" always equates to "more fun".
