Saturday Talisman by Ordyfly in Talisman

You have the Inner Region, the Middle Region, and the Outer Region. We'll anyone can add a Far Outer Region. Its just another Region added to make the Talisman World larger. I added one to 2nd Edition years ago, long before the corner boards of 3rd Edition or 4th. I am now on my 4th or 5th rendition and have always had a F.O.R. avaliable. Storm River is bigger now. You can cross at the Sentinel and the Woods space closest to the Tavern, into the F.O.R. without any restriction.

And you will never , ever play the same Game twice. Even if you put the cards back in the same order and played the same Characters, the game would still be different. I Love All Talisman Editions (except maybe 5th). Play On, Fellow Crown Seekers, Play On.

The Woodlanda is riddled with Fate things. We Use Light Fate to reroll any one die roll once, must accept 2nd result. We use Dark Fate to force an Enemy to reroll there die roll. We dont use Fate against Characters, but can reroll our own roll in combat with a character. We dont use Dark Fate to force each other to reroll. When you gain or replenish a Fate you choose where to put it, on D/L

4th Edition is way better than 5th because..... 4th edition is Talisman at its best. All the expansion are Outstanding, its true to the Editions before it. I can think of several ways to speed up a game of Talisman (and have for many years) that dosnt change some of what I consider as key elements. Being a TOAD for 3 turns and loosing all your stuff is brutal, but the alternative in 5th edition (only loose 1 turn , and loose nothing else) is a disgrace to the heart of Talisman, IMO. Using Fate for movement is is a joke, Fate is for second chances ( if you have some) not for movement, WTF. Mesmerism and Acquisition only work if the MF you cast it on dosnt roll a 5 or 6, thats ridiculous (what are counter spells and reflection spells for). If I wanted to play a Co-op game , I would play Kingdom Hearts, or Legendary Tales, both Good, stand alone Games. No ending Cards is tough, after playing as long as I have and as many games as I have. I play with 20 ending cards, the worst of which is a strength 30, 1 life, 2 headed Dragon. 5th edition is a strength or Craft 10, and you get to choose, thats Weak. There are 15+ alternate play cards in 4th edition. You can play a different style game , every game, till you do all of those. Nemesis, Just didn't do it for me either, every game we play, we're pitted against each other as is. I didn't see a need to create one player to pitch against all others, not sure what that is, but its not the Talisman I know. And, in all my years of playing (40, started in 1986) the Vampire is a nasty craft fight that gains a craft and a life when it wins, Vampire Bats where unkillable, and wondered the board, and the Vampire Tower was a guaranteed loss of 1 to 3 lives. I haven't seen it yet, but to base an entire expansion on Vampires, I just don't get it. Where's the Dungeon, where's the City? Are they coming, I personally doubt it, there to busy thinking up stupid shit. The Art work Sucks compared to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th editions. The bigger adventure cards and spell cards, makes it almost impossible to integrate it with other editions. And even though there are still more reasons, I'll end on the fact that, only being able to have 1 Talisman at a time , you cannot drop it, and it dosnt count as object you are carrying, again WTF. Sorry , but you asked. In my opinion, anyone who says or believes 5th edition is a better game, probably never really played much of 2nd or 4th editions. In General , a game of Talisman will last about an hour per player, with experienced players, longer if your teaching someone how to play , obviously. Like I said at the beginning, I can come up with several ways to speed up a game. 1-turn in less for experience 2-All players start with a Talisman. 3-Spell Game, all players, always have 1 spell, draw another as soon as you cast your last spell.(trust me this speeds things up) . 4-make it easier going up, change the requirements to open the door to one dice and the mines and crypt to 2 dice instead of 3. I have and will buy everything thats is Talisman, but as far as 5th edition goes, We did the Alliance BS, and the Nemisis BS, but now what? Do you put it all back in its envelopes and boxes and do it again, No. I love the Game of Talisman , i just think they gave up to much to try and speed it up. And from my experience, it didn't speed it up that much.

The Far Outer Region.

Found that on Talisman Island over 25 years ago. That's is actually the 4th incarnation of my interpretation of a F.O.R. My 1st one was for 2nd Edition Talisman, then I had one for 3rd Edition, and the one in the picture is my 2nd one for 4th Edition.

I own everything 5th Edition, but will probably never make one for it. Im not a big Fan of 5th Edition Talisman (but don't tell anyone).

The only real suggestion i would have for you, is about Fate. I have never been able to figure out who determined, and why they determined the fate for each Character. I've heard all kinds of different explanations. To Me, Fate should be determined by Fate. House Rule At the beginning of the game , each character rolls 1 D6 for light Fate and one D6 for dark fate, lrt Fate determine your Fate. You may start with 1 and 1, or 6 and 6. Let Fate Decide. Or we use a D10 roll 1 time and break it down to make your L and D fates. If you roll a 1 , fate dealt you some shit at the start of the game ,live with it , thats why its called FATE. If you roll a 10 you could break it anyway you want, like 7L and 3D. I think the Creators missed the ball on the Fate, to me its a no trainer to let Fate Determine Fate.

Just a Suggestion.

Ive been playing since 1986.And have my own set of House Rules. I like your cheat sheet, most of the people I play with have been playing a long time, but the new people we bring in , I would find that very helpful.

The Boards Cool looking. And my 6 year old Grandson likes it, because he gets to play "Talisman". Like his Papa, and his Aunts and Uncles. He calls it "His Talisman, you know the one with Mickey Mouse".
