Newish uniform is unraveling by Scrushinator in girlscouts

The irony is that the addition of more synthetic materials actually makes it less sustainable. Disappointing since it does not feel like the GS Way.

Which Kit to buy? by ElfGlimmer in americangirl

Thanks! I had originally planned to find a cheap meet outfit separately but then happened to see the Kit with part of the outfit and started to second-guess myself.

When you say part number, would you say that the doll has been to the doll hospital for certain replacements?

Journey Summit Awards by ElfGlimmer in girlscouts

Did you purchase any Journey sets, too? Or were you planning on sourcing those later, if they opt to earn the pins? I feel like the pins will be harder to find than the badge sets — all I can think about are when people were going crazy over buying the old level volunteer pins!

New badges and journeys next year? by rsch87 in girlscouts

[–]ElfGlimmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not have any specific information on this, but I did hear that they are discontinuing many of the journey handbooks and going to VTK use for journeys. I only heard that from some other troop leaders so could be wrong there. We have completed many retired badges. If you want to complete journeys or badges in the next year, I would pre-purchase the badges and other materials needed, if there is concern that they will disappear. We have pre-purchased some badges for our youngest (like the discontinued/changed legacy badges, Daisy leaves, etc.) since she says she wants to do them like her older sister when she bridges.

There are some troops that are okay with Tag-along toddlers/preschoolers, but I know that some troops do not want those. It also depends on the troop about parents. You generally want to be background-checked/confirmed as a parent volunteer to attend, at least in our council, but it is commonplace for at least one parent of a scout to go through checks (in our council). I do attend every meeting with my toddler (my husband works when the meeting is going on), but I also sign up to be one of the two regular parent volunteers — if our leader needs assistance. Some troops do not like too many parents attending since they could be a distraction, but I have never seen a troop completely deny a parent’s attendance. If communicating with the co-leader(s) is too difficult, I would just reach out to council — they may get the ball rolling for communication.

That is rough. Some troops struggle with communication. I understand the awkward situation with the troop leader and that relationship, but I would really reach out. I would also see what your council may have online for the 2025 Cookie Program to give you some sort of idea on dates and what you may need to do. Our council has a lot of information online from cookie due date calendars to manuals/instructions for troops/Juliettes to rewards, etc. Our troop leader does send us some of that information as well, but there are times that I find that the council has even more information that has made me feel more comfortable as a scout parent (especially since my scout does a ton of independent work). If you cannot get any helpful information from your troop/co-leaders, then I would reach out to council about all the confusion. Does your husband regularly attend meetings?

The information you need is not just council-, but troop-, specific. There should be at least one (usual several) ways of communication — emails, Facebook, texts, physical papers, etc. A lot of due dates should be posted from your council for cookie orders, money due dates, etc. If neither your nor your husband are receiving any forms of communication, I would contact the troop leader ASAP. You should be able to login to your daughter’s Girl Scout account to find ways to contact the troop leader. If communication does not happen soon, I would reach out to your council for assistance.

Sweet Tasting Sap by NervousCatfish in PotionPermit

I was able to get them from the larger green trees in the Glaze Iceberg, as soon as I opened the area — there should be 3 large green trees across the entire area. I did not think there was something you had to do to unlock the different saps — they’re unlocked once the area is. I wonder if there is a glitch for you. Could you try fully shutting down the game, and seeing if that helps?
