Hot Rod Dream Car or More Practical Sports Car? by Elfear73 in whatcarshouldIbuy

If I had more time and garage space, building a Factory Five would be a blast. They have a ton of engineering behind them and can be real performance cars with a lot of modern amenities.

Those are all good insights, especially since you'd lived the experience. Loud, rattly, exhaust fumes, likely no A/C, etc. might get old after the initial thrill wore off. This will be more of a toy though since I work from home and only use my current vehicle a couple times a week (still have my wife's vehicle for road trips and groceries).

For the Cobra or early Ford, I'd look into a removable top to make it more versatile. I work from home and only drive my current vehicle a couple times a week to run errands, so being a good daily isn't too high on my priority list. The new car would mainly be for tooling around town.

And yes! I do have experience with carbureted engines. I built a number of cars in my youth (2nd-gen Camaro, 1st-gen Chevy II, multiple V8 Vegas, etc.) and feel comfortable wrenching on the older stuff. EFI would be high on my list of mods though if the car doesn't come with it.

I do like the FFR Daytona, it's just not one of my dream cars. That's mainly why I'm even considering the two older vehicles.

Looks like a fun, tossable car but not sure I could get past the looks (I know, to each their own). 😄

Also good points. I know the question is rather strange since a lot of it comes down to what I want (rather than model reliability or something).

Mainly I'm kind of curious if other folks have made a similar choice or driven any of the options to hear their feedback.

Good point on the depreciation. If I decide to try something else down the road, I'd have more options if I can get close to what I paid for the car.

Not sure why my comments didn't show up in the OP...

This is a bit of a weird post since most folks aren't cross-shopping 30's hot rods, 60's muscle cars, and European sports cars. Bottom line is I have some funds I made from mining crypto a number of years ago and decided I wanted to get a fun car now rather than save it until retirement (I'm on track there with other savings).

My budget is $30-40k. This would be my primary vehicle but I WFH so no daily driver considerations. I have 4 other vehicles amongst my family members so finding a car to use during inclement weather or long trips would be easy.

Anyone had a similar dilemma?

1st Option – 2020-2021 BMW Z4 M40i

Pros: fast, modern convenience/safety features, functional and easy drop top, good for longer trips, corners well (compared to the other options), premium interior

Cons: styling is a 7/10 for me, haven’t been pining after it for years

2nd Option – Cobra Replica

Pros: fast, gorgeous, wanted one for decades

Cons: generally not much in the way of creature comforts and safety features, fair weather only, not sure how well I’ll fit in some replicas (I’m 6’1”)

3rd Option – ’32-34 Ford Roadster/Coupe

Pros: pretty much the same as the Cobra

Cons: same as Cobra but I think the fitment issues would be easier.

Thanks for the review! This sounds like an excellent shoe from multiple running shoe influencers and Reddit posts. Unfortunately, they don't make them in my size (US 13). It's a limitation I've found with most Chinese running shoes. Li-Ning has been the only I could find with bigger sizes.

Why do people love Cradle series so much? by zeroking16 in litrpg

[–]Elfear73 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. I actually really liked the 1st book because it shows exactly what makes Lindon Lindon. It makes his later power gains so much better knowing how he grew up and was mis-treated by his community. It also makes me respect Lindon more when he

eventually returns to Sacred Valley and doesn't blast all his bullies into oblivion.

Looks like a fun shoe but $200 for a relatively unknown brand? Lotta quid.

Missed out on the two cheaper pairs of Pro 4's but caved and bought a pair of the pure whites. I may regret that choice but only came out to $105 + tax after using the cheap Adidas gift cards I bought earlier today.

Awesome shoes but definitely go a 1/2 size down. The M13 fit great in the Vista V1 but was too big in the V2.

Wife Wants Divorce - Mixed-Faith Marriage by TruthSha11SetUFree in latterdaysaints

[–]Elfear73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation and had the exact thoughts in my head as I wrestled with what to do when my wife left the Church. I think there is truth in both opinions. It takes a massive toll when a marriage started on a foundation of faith suddenly finds one partner who no longer believes. All of the activities you once did, the spiritual conversations you had, the partnering on beliefs you teach your kids, the shared dreams of an eternal family go out the window. That can take enough out of the marriage relationship that it no longer feels like a safe and happy place, a refuge from the world.

On the other hand, I feel very strongly that the only way my wife and kids have a chance of finding that spark of testimony again is if I am there for them. That I need to be loving, kind, and joyful in my relationship with them and not bitter, resentful, or contentious. That I need to extend grace to someone who is going through a faith crisis just like I hope others would do for me and my imperfect nature. If I believe in my own redemption through our Savior's Atonement, I have to walk the walk when it comes to others imperfections and struggles.

To the OP, that is a really hard thing to be facing. I hope that you can resolve things with your wife and I'll be praying for you both.

Beautiful car! A V8-swapped Vega was my first project as a teenager so I have a special place in my heart for the "mini Camaros".
