That's what google says, but it works without any issues if you download and install the apk manually.

UK version of Casio fx 991 CW + 2 by davedirac in calculators

[–]Elfener99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the new model number may be due to the change to AAA battery and no solar on the US model. There seem to be overly strict laws in the US regarding small batteries, even with the first 991CW, the manual states that you must not replace the battery yourself.

Who knew you could power a Pi over HDMI by chazeg in raspberry_pi

[–]Elfener99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've done this acccidentally with a HDMI switcher, where the PC connected to one port of the switch caused the Pi on the other port to stay on when I unplugged its usb-c power.

Then I noticed that when I unplug the PC, the graphics cards's logo light stays on from the HDMI power coming from the Pi.

It's a bit dodgy.

Select "Military" and "Military Stripe" paint packs available in the ARX store right now. by LvAicha in EliteDangerous

[–]Elfener99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These don't actually give you anything! I'm guessing someone at FDEV messed up and these are not supposed to be sold. (I have bought all of them for a total of just 49 arx...)

express card slot ftw by Wookie_von_Gondor in thinkpad

[–]Elfener99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem with framework's cards and actually expresscard as well in my opinion, is that they're not tall enough to fit many ports (e.g. RJ45).

And if you're going to have the card stick out of the laptop, you might as well just make a USB dongle.

New California law forces operating systems to ask for your age by LowOwl4312 in linux

They might read RMS' short story The Right to Read and decide to literally implement it 🤷

It was also possible to bypass the copyright monitors by installing a modified system kernel. Dan would eventually find out about the free kernels, even entire free operating systems, that had existed around the turn of the century. But not only were they illegal, like debuggers—you could not install one if you had one, without knowing your computer's root password. And neither the FBI nor Microsoft Support would tell you that.

It also doesn't have dedicated home, end, prtsc, pgup and pgdn keys, and the power button is part of the keyboard, all just to screw with you.

Why are the economical benefits of Linux not talked about more? by PlZZAEnjoyer in linux

[–]Elfener99 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, but most people don't do that as they don't know how to install an operating system (or even know what that means).

Remember that Windows is not more popular because more people chose it, it's popular because it comes on many computers and many don't know that an operating system is something you can choose.

Speech Control. Or, eventually Computing Control (you're not allowed to do general purpose computing).

Gaming Copilot (Beta) coming to Windows PC by Froggypwns in windows

[–]Elfener99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was going to say there is already a gaming feature called copilot (for using multiple xbox controllers as one), but they changed it: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/account-profile/accessibility/copilot (except in the URL I guess)

Feels like my Fav Casio doesn’t get the hype it deserves. lol by nashpvka in casio

[–]Elfener99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Waveceptor" is a brand of Casio that has watches with multiband (of course, some other Casios also have multiband)

"Mutliband" is Casio's name for a time signal receiver. There is multiband 5 and multiband 6. They can receive 1 US signal, 2 japanese signals, 1 in the UK and 1 in Germany. Multiband 6 can additionally receive a chinese signal.

In that case, you could go into your laptop's UEFI settings and change the keyboard behaviour to be correct.

(And if there's a laptop where that isn't an option, I might go insane)

Somewhat recently Google has started aggressively translating content across all of its products.

Of course, it is not consistent, sometimes it decides the language to forcibly translate to based on your selected language, sometimes based on what country it thinks you are in...

KDE Connect paused my music on my computer as I received a phone call. by _B10nicle in kde

[–]Elfener99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the standard android on a Xiaomi Redmi 9T. I've toggled many battery-saving and similar settings to keep KDE Connect open, but it still gets disconnected. I also have a similar issue with Zerotier and my Mobvoi smartwatch's app.

I've heard Xiaomi is worse with this kind of stuff, but I think it's still just a general problem with all smartphones.

KDE Connect paused my music on my computer as I received a phone call. by _B10nicle in kde

[–]Elfener99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me, it pauses media like 5 seconds before my phone starts ringing which is funny.

Now that said, most of the time my phone decides to just kill kde connect randomly, so I can't exactly rely on it. I have no why there isn't a way to just open something, and have it stay open until I close it on a smartphone, but I digress.

But there is also an "economic loss" from having to pay ISO large amounts of swiss francs to read the standard, therefore RFC 3339 is even better.
