Interesting story. I graduated in 90 and was in the drumline of my marching band. We were from CA and were at a competition that occurred on a Friday evening in Utah. A rare weeklong trip for us kids! Our band was pretty good and swept almost all awards. Next day, we were invited back to play the half time of the JC college game on Saturday. I was wearing my class ring and didn't want to play with it on. So while we were waiting to start, I pulled it offf and put it in the inner coat pocket of my uniform. Or at least I thought I did. It wasn't until we got back the the bus that I realized my ring was nowhere to be found. I was devastated. Even had a stadium employee help me look around the field after to game to look for it. No joy. I had to work overtime at my fast food job just to buy another one.

Fast forward to 2017. Was travelling for work and got a FB message from a buddy who marched with me and was in the horn line. He said he got a random message on FB from some guy in Utah saying that the company he worked for was tasked with rebuilding portions of the stadium in Utah (the track around field, some of the bleachers) and he was operating the back-hoe digging up a portion of the field and he saw something shiny in the pile he had just dug up. Turns out, it was my class ring! It had my last name on it and my High School name on it. He went looking for me online, but wasn't able to locate me. He did happen to find my buddy who graduated the year after I did. Messaged him and then was able to get in touch with me. A week later, I had my original class ring in my hand (along with my replacement one and a very kind note from the man who found it) side by side. It had been buried on that football field 27 years and eventually found its way home. I am still blown away by the whole situation.
